Who here thinks the Power kit is a ripoff?
They describe the rush the power kit gives from 6k to 7.5k perfectly.
Based on my one drive where i had a chance to use those speeds, I conclude:
- anyone who uses those revs will find it worth every penny
- anyone who doesn't will think they have been ripped off
- anyone who has not had the experience is not in a position to judge

No, a Vette is Chevy,
A 911 is a Porsche
I have no greater fondness for VW than I do GM, however at a brand level there is no comparison..
Last time I walked on a Chevy car lot, (and it was to look at a Vette) the experience made me never want to go back, no matter how great the product was or might be..
Something I've never had to put up with at BMW, Porsche or Mercedes..
So if not wanting to be treated like a mark when I walk on a car lot makes me a snob, then I'm a snob..
So I continue to wonder why from a marketing standpoint, GM has always chosen to place their most prestigious sports car under their bottom badge brand...

Legacy. However I know near where I live the Cadillac dealer both sells and services Vettes.
I can't see them doing it at 50 years of history, but at least the buying experience would be better.. Every time I have ever been on a Chevy Lot I've felt like I was being hustled... Something I've never experienced with.porsche, BMW, Mercedes or even Lexus..
I don't get this snob stuff. I'd love to have a Vette and a Mustang in my garage to go with my Carrera S. I could even stomach a Z-28, one of those loud flashy JagUars, and in extremes, a Ferrari 458 if, you know, I was forced. On the other hand I would resist having to drive a GTR all the time rather than once in awhile. OK I guess I am a snob.
The car doesn't even have a Chevy bow tie logo on it anywhere as far as I can tell. It has it's own Corvette logo. So they don't need to change the product, just the marketing and the channel availability. I doubt it would even require changing franchise agreements, just reassigning allocations.

(not the car variety, but really it's all the same)
Whether one appreciates it or not, hustling is part art and part science. Done well and with a honed craft it can be very rewarding and fruitful. I couldnt imagine doing anything else

Don't be fooled, they're all trying to hustle you, some are just better than others. The clientele is different at each dealership, so the hustle has to change too. Trust me, I know, I'm a hustler

I don't understand what the Carrera S Powerkit has to do with a Corvette? It seems every other thread on this forum and Rennlist lead back to Chevy. In my opinion, there aren't very many under the age of 50 considering a Corvette versus Porsche. Please stop this madness.
They could just delete the Chevrolet part of the name and make Corvette it's own brand. A bit like how Viper is now an SRT and not a Dodge. Corvette can be the brand, and Stingray, Z06, etc. can be models. You can then give Corvette franchises to Cadillac dealers.

Why do people get so hung-up on norschleif times? Sure, it is a measure of a cars performance, but how many people drive on the track daily? Most never take their car to the track. Power delivery for normal daily use is what is important to most drivers.
Last night I placed my order for a '14 TT. Spent about an hour going over the preliminary build did on the configurator with the salesman. He went over every option I chose giving me pros and cons as well as imforming me of options that I should consider. In the end, I ended up deleting a few options and picking up a few based on his recommendations. MSRP did not change

Try getting that experience in a Chevy dealer. I've had similar crappy experiences in Nissan, Infiniti, and Toyota. MB, BMW and Porsche have always been a pleasure.
The argument supporting Porsche's lower hp in comparison to other brands is that the Porsche is lighter. Maybe so but who says we can't have both? Why can't Porsche give us more power in the same light package? They CAN do it if they choose. It's not as if they lack the technological ability to deliver more hp. WHY do they deny us this?
If 'daily use' power is what matter the most (in the sense of having high torque at low rpm more than max hp), then a NA 911 is not the right car. Go for a turbo or another car with a big displacement engine.
Going from 3.8 to 4.0 displacement on the 911 or pushing the max hp to 450hp with the same type of engine will not make a huge difference for daily driving based on how this engine delivers power.
For myself I rarely get to use the power/potential my 991S is capable of without fear of the big $$$ traffic ticket. Yes I have V-1, but little defense against instant-on.
WA State troopers know what they're doing.
Any thoughts of adding another $15K is a big flush of the toilet......
