Buying 991 soon, your thoughts?
Hi folks-
Let me introduce myself. My name is Alec. I'm a HUGE German car fanatic. I'm very close to buying my first Porsche. After 15 years of BMW's this will be my first Porsche. I will still have a 535xi for daily father duty, but I'm starting to spec my new toy. I'm hoping you owners can help me a little.
What I want is a c4S Cab with PDK, full leather, GT silver with red interior. I'm going for that classic silver and red open car from the fifty and sixties. You know full on James Dean. I LOVE THAT COMBO.
First question is who has this color combo? Love to hear from you. Also, I'd love to hear from those of you who have something similar what we're the options you HAD to have and the ones you let go. Right now my fantasy car is over $150 bones. Would like to reduce that but I want my options! Thoughts?
Thanks all. Looking forward to joining the ranks when I order my particular obsession. I mean car.

Perhaps you could list your desired build and we can start by telling you what's worth getting and what isn't.
For instance, Power steering Plus and Keyless entry are both forgettable at best.
Alternatively you could do a search on "must have options" and see previous critiques that have been provided.

You can save a ton of money by not getting a 4 or an S...Base model still has 350 HP and is plenty fun!
I know I will get shot down for this, but honestly, unless you plan on tracking and racing your car, you seriously don't need anything more than the base model.
There, I just saved you close to 20 grand...you can thank me later...

Well. he lives in Minnesota so the 4 would probably help him in the winter. Like you, I live in Southern California and it hasn't rained here all season. A 4 here would be a waste in my opinion.
Classic combo indeed! Not seen many with that combo...not sure why but I'm sure many will respond so stay put. Don't forget options like burmester, PDCC, spasm, sport chrono, 18 way seats and pse. These are must have options IMO. I have others like full leather, extended leather, center arm rest stitching, steering column in leather and rear mirror in leather --something to think about as these will look just great with red leather vs black mirror and steering column. Also painted ext option is third priority recommended option in GT silver...but tastes vary!!

Congrats AlecS on your new Build. Some of the Basics are listed above. If you can post some options you were thinking of we could tell you if they are any good with your current options.
I actually like the, "Additional Interior Lighting" that comes in the Plus Seating Package, but it comes with one I don't like. Keyless Entry.
Dux could you elaborate on which aspect's you don't like about it?

I agree with Fester about most of the must have options except I am not sure that any sound system matters in a cab and I found the 14 way seats more comfortable. I spend a lot of time in Minn. so consider the smoking package as it is free and provides a good place to plug a trickle charger. As for the 4 issue, it depends on how you and when you will drive. The low ground clearance will be a problem on snow covered roads. You will need winter tires - the breaking distance and loss of grip at your winter temps makes running on summer tires dangerous. And given all the salt and grit used on your roads, are you really going to be exposing your 100+K cab to all that? If not, a 4 is not a waste-it has advantages. But it may not be worth it and the money could be used for other things.
Enjoy it, and post pictures when you get it!
You can take a look at JCBH's threads. His cab is agathe grey/red interior. Not exactly the same of course, but his pics may help you. He did a great job at personalizing his interior.
Here's one of his threads: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-selector.html
Classic silver + red interior will be great. Saw it on a 991 coupe at the dealership already and liked it a lot.
My personal favorite options: SPASM+PDCC, Sport Chrono, PSE (or aftermarket exhaust), None of the rest is a must have IMHO.

I had a Boxster RS60 Spyder with that color combo, and it was awesome. If the car wasn't too small for me I woulda kept it. That said, IMO here are some options you may wanna tick off:
light design package
Sport Chrono
special colored gauge faces?
carbon fiber trim (on red looks good)
PDCC - I like it
consider the rear diffuser painted
electric folding mirrors
Burmester - with a Cab you might need it
you might also wanna think about contrasting color stitching and/or colored seat belts
You are going to love it. Mine is platinum silver with red and black interior (coupe) and I love it. It is hard to be critical of other color combo's. I like most of them, Fester's combo and the older platinum silver with brown was a revelation to me. I saw a Cab in platinum silver and espresso interior with brown roof and it was stunning. ( I still like mine better - but that is just my taste). I have seen the silver with the beige and it is a classic look as well.

I've been looking for a 2013/14 CS2 silver over red but the red covers the dash/everything and imo ruins the look. I want a black dash with red seats, black doors with red inserts/accents which is how you described your car. Can you clarify? Only black dash with red seats I found was available on the Turbos and not on the 2S.
Thanks in advance,

Thanks in advance,
My car has red everywhere, but the seat inserts and door inserts are black which breaks things up. I also have replaced the chrome trim with carbon parts which extends the look. A black dash would look well and cut down on the glare. So I agree with the red being a bit too much and the contrast color worked well to break things up.
Your combo sounds great and I would love to see pictures!
Enjoy
Hey AG991, wish I could find that combination. haha. From what I can see, it's all or nothing when it comes to red interiors and the two tone interior offerings do not include red/black. If I order a car, then I would probably go silver over black with red seat belts. Hopefully there's a way to get the stitching in red as well which I think would look sharp, but I can't seem to find that on the options list. For the steering wheel deviated stitching is an option, but not for the seats. But frankly, I would prefer to find a lightly used 2013/2014 C2s
Just started looking and want to enjoy the process, as this will be my first Porsche and there's so much to learn. And for me, that's all part of the fun. Now deciding on which options fall into the "must have" category and one's that would be nice to have...that's an entirely different topic.
