Visor Warning Removal
Somehow I got out of going to the beach for Mother's Day. You know what that means? A day in the garage for me! I needed to wash both cars.
Two weeks ago my Sonax Polymer Net Shield's beading was lackluster. It appears that massive amount of pollen we've had this spring has messed up my sealant. It's only been 3 months. I was a bit surprised as I got almost 8 months out it on my S4. I decided to switch back to my old staple: Menzerna Powerlock, wait a few hours to cure, a coat of Collinite 845, wait a few days, a 2nd coat of Collinite 845. I deconed (probably a waste of time). Then, I was able to get away with a very light Autoscrubbing using the handheld fine grade sponge and Adam's detail spray rather than using cheaper Nanoscrub or ONR. I didn't need to do any polishing.
This week I washed the car before retiring for the rest of the month. For those of you not from the Southeast, my winter is May and October. LOVE BUG season blows. These little bastards will ruin you paint, so I'll just leave the 911 in the garage instead of dealing with them.
I was planning at some point to order replacement visors without the super annoying warning labels. They looked like they were permanent. I saw RichardC's post on how to remove them, so I did it today. Here is the process.
I got all of my stuff ready. I didn't need the Q-Tips.
Before

Soak a corner of the microfiber towel and wipe down the entire label. I also wiped the passenger label as well.

Then, just keep rubbing with the microfiber towel. I kept adding a little more IPA and wiping down the entire label. You don't need to use a whole lot of force, but it does take quite a bit of rubbing. I found it worked best going against the grain of the towel. It would catch the edge of the label. I made sure to keep the towel clean so it could do its work. I pulled and removed one tiny piece at a time.

I did a final wipe down with Griot's Adhesive Remover, and then cleaned with Interior Cleaner.

There is still a little outline as you can see using a flash, but you can't tell in looking at it while sitting in the car.

Done.

This is what the mess looks like. It took me about two hours to complete.

Call me crazy, but this is what I'm avoiding.

Clean, covered, and retired until June.

Car looks amazing!
We get the love bugs in Texas as well.
Enjoy reading your informative threads. My previous car was a Lemans Blue E92 M3 as well. Looking forward to your review of the new one when you take delivery.
I've been looking for a mounting solution for my Passport Max as an alternative to pulling the car apart for the 9500 installation.
I like the clean look of the rear-view mounting bracket you have. What is the name of the Company that makes those.
Thanks.

OP: you won't have to worry about anything adhering to the surface after the workout you just gave your finish! Nice combo! MPL as your main sealant and then some super long lasting 845 on top of it! Killer combo and going to be tough as nails!
Good job.
Oh, yes, the love bugs really suck this time of year! Mine stays inside as well...Too bad, cuz it's not quite super hot/wet/summertime yet.

Money, had a hellacious driveway gash on my RS5 and I thought about you. Thanks for the Menzerna SF400, that and some careful rubbing along with some Meguiar's fine scratch compound got the majority of it out. Lastly, I used some Griot's garage tire rejuvenator (black dye) to blend out the white marks. Thanks for the suggestions. The SF 400 is great and that was just on a rag. I can't wait to put a wheel to it. BTW I got the FG400 too. Good looking out!
