The piece near the headliner comes out very easily. The ones on the stem are a little tougher. I used a pick tool while I was pulling the two apart.

Great thread! My neighbor has several concours winning BMW 2002s including a turbo. Also an m3 coupe (95 or 96? Lightweights that they only brought limited number to the states). I thought my OCD was bad until I met him. You blow him out of the water ! That's a compliment by the way.

Just got my 3rd 911. Babied that first one which I ordered from scratch (2003 coupe). Drove the 2nd one more (2009 c2s coupe). Gonna beat on this new one though probably won't track it like the last 2.

As I'm sure others have recommended.....drive it often!

Would love to get the new m3 sedan but live in Colorado and need AWD.

Thanks again for this great thread..

Thanks for the comments! I just hit 1,800 miles in two months of ownership, so I'm using it as intended!

Personalized Plate

I think I'm the only goof that needs 18 photos to show off my new personalized plate. I'm not sure why I'm so in love with my obscure plate. 99.999999% of the population won't have a clue that it's personalized. I think that's why I like it so much. I even had a guy come up to me at cars and coffee, a group of car guys, ask me what model it was since I took the badges off. Every time I see it, it makes me smile.

On a side note, I haven't mentioned this yet. If you look closely, you'll notice that one of the plate lights seems a little off. I spent 25 hours detailing the car the days immediately after delivery. The paint on the car looked flawless, but I purposely tried not to stress myself by looking for issues. The first day I took it out, a friend of mine said, "Dude, there is a dent in your rear bumper!" I looked at him and laughed. I said, "yeah right..." We walked out to the car and looked. I pretended I didn't care, but I was secretly about to punch through the rear bumper and probably break my hand in the process. I don't know how I missed it, but the rear bumper was clearly bumped into. It is probably from putting the car on the truck or on the ship. I never even told the dealer. I figured the fix would be worse than the problem. It is really not that bad, you have to catch it under the right angle and lighting. I'm sure all of you that have followed this Journal know this bothers me to the point of twitching.

I think what I'm going to do is have the reflectors filled and paint the rear valence all when I do the Tech Art wing.

Sorry photography buffs, I shouldn't have been too lazy to throw on the circular polarizer. Onto the typical photo whoring...

Matt,

Have you ever considered taking the car back to Porsche and asking for a new bumper? Not sure that the dent could've happened from the things you've mentioned. Bumpers are made to take a 5mph impact, so someone would've had to do something just right to make that dimple.

Leave the red reflectors. They frame the coded plate and are perfect for Xmas. And they take eye away from that huge dent!

Just kidding, you will need to supply more pictures with a macro lens for anyone to spot whatever dent you have.

Car looks GREAT with that plate!

Great plate, and car looks so nice and immaculate with the clean and uncluttered rear end. Beautiful!

Emblem in Flat Black

I finally decided to test out a new emblem on the back after looking at a thousand photos. I'm going to try out the look of the flat black emblem to see if I like it. I'll do a full write of how I got the letters back on the car (assuming I don't screw it up). Wish me luck.

Also, I'm ordering the AWE Switchpath with Diamond Black tips. The tips should play nicely with the white/black theme. I'm just waiting for my local guys at PSI in Winter Park to try and strike up a relationship with AWE. I like to try and support the locals guys to keep them in business.

I think the letters will bring together the rear end nicely. I had my emblems off for about a week; I just didn't like the look.

Looking forward to more pics with it.

I love the idea of the black lettering and the AWE black tips. I would have gotten the same tips, but I'm afraid they'd be completely washed out on the car. Same thing with the diffuser. Waste of time as no one would even see it!

I love the plate and the white/black theme you are looking at for the lettering and exhaust.
I too wanted a personalized plate that would not seem too obvious to mere mortals
Very nice pics too. The car keeps getting better and better... I am very jealous of your sport design mirrors BTW.

The car is really looking fantastic. I can't wait to see it with the black letters and exhaust tips.

Do they have a ten-plate available for the letters yet?

I don't think so. I think 7 is the max in FL.

Not this one, but I'm planning to do a mini-split in the addition.
