Use-Based Insurance Device in 991

Guys- curious if anyone on this forum has a use-based insurance tracking device installed in their 991? For example the Progressive Insurance SnapShot. Device plugs into the OBD port and captures data about driving speed, hours, distance etc.

For those that do, what has your experience been? Is it accurate, and do you gain any real benefit from reduced rates (or worse, have you had increased rates???)?

Thanks!

I am curious about this too. I don't mind it tracking distance and areas that I drive. I have an issue with speed and maybe hours. I drive very low miles, so this can be beneficial unless it measures speed.

Google it and make your own assessment from real life experiences. Wouldn't recommend it.

Wouldn't even think about putting it in any of my cars. Bad enough NSA is tracking my phone!

No thanks. No need to encourage more big brother control over our lives.

I heard that the device has g-meters in it and even braking hard will negate any potential discount.

Anybody on this forum who uses one those is like a traitor. Progressive should be boycotted. If that catches on pretty soon it won't be optional. We will all be driving 100hp cars because that's all they will insure.

Progressive will reduce the premium for the 50 y/o female librarian who drives her Prius 2 miles back and forth to work at a snails pace who gladly plugs this into the OBD port.

Wouldn't surprise me that that many insurers will offer 50 % off with the device and the majority of drivers "standing in line " to sign up for it.

They will just jack the rates up for owners of cars who prefer to keep driving in a " sporting " manner , to keep their top lines the same on the balance sheets.

Subscribed. Personally I wouldn't ever, either. My port is for my speed setting for my V1 anyway.
