Ugh -- Chipping from Spacers..?

I have a 991 with about 3500 miels on it. About 200 hundred miles ago I put spacers on.

Now I am noticing chipping..

The front spacers are 7mm and the back are 15mm

I am not sure if these marks is from the spacers, as I have not looked at the car too closely lately..

But I noticed this today. Its on both sides.

IS this common with spacers?
Is there a way to protect this area?

And god its hard to keep a solid-black car clean. Not sure I'd buy a solid black one again.

Before I picked up my car I had Xpel clearshield wrap installed on the front, a pillars, sills, and around the guards. Expensive but worth it.

All I can suggest is trying to clean up and correct the chips and then add something like Xpel, or just leave it now and repaint it later at some point.

It's from the spacers. Those wheels kick up a lot of stones, and now they're being sprayed onto the side with them being pushed out so much. I think your spacers are a little aggressive (my opinion).

I assume you have oem wheels? Which ones? Wide or narrow body?

The most I'd personally go is 5mm. Not much, but avoids these problems.

Yeah.. sh*t..

Hmm.

Maybe I remove the 5 inch spacers in the front, It was mainly the rear spacers I really wanted. Is it front spacers that do the most damage to the car?

Unfortunately, what looks cool isn't always the most practical.

I put 5mm spacers on all 4 wheels on my Carrera Classics on the C2S and they're only 0.196"

Did it out of curiosity, but I think the wheels already have a good stance. Not sure where this wanting to push them out so far comes from. You're sandblasting the bottom half of your car.

I like the platinum wheels. I think the oem wheels with no spacers look fine.

If anything, I'd do 5mm front and 7mm rear if you really want spacers.

I thought it def looks better with them on, at least in the back.
And I assume the chipping is from the front wheels.

Maybe I will remove them from the front.

It's probably from both fronts and rears.

I have the same set-up. I don't have any chips yet, but I'm sure the spacers to the risk. Living in FL, we tend to get less heavy stones on the road than Northerly states. Personally, I'd rather have a chip than clear film on my paint. The really isn't much else you can do other than film.

+1 No chips with same 7/15mm setup. But I'm sure the risk increases with spacers. I don't want to wrap my car either.

Same here...I'd never do 5mm's...seems like a waste. If you do it, go big!....
