Ok, I'm giving up on trying to get the dealer to install the parts op posted. Too much resistance... However they have offered to install the PSE kit at a very resonable price if I buy it somewhere else.

Thought about getting the Kline or the awe switch path which they also said they'd install and program the switch but there are concerns about potential damage caused by non factory parts that could screw up the warranty.

What's the best price out there in the PSE kit?

Wow -- Your P-car dealer is resisting installation of P-car parts??? You need to find a different dealer IMO. Read-up on the installation performed by numerous others on this board. It is a low-risk, simple / straightforward install even for the DIY'er.

As for your second comment about "potential damage caused by non-factory parts that could screw up the warranty" : What? Swapping the exhaust center muffler for non OEM is a risk to warranty? In what way? If your dealer (the one that is resisting installation of factory parts!) is telling you this they are full of $h1t! I don't recall ever coming across a situation where someone has voided their warranty due to install of a cat-back exhaust, different muffler, or similar. Headers, cams, etc. sure. But a direct bolt-on exhaust? You've got to be kidding me! The dealer / service dept would have to prove that your aftermarket parts were the cause of the failure (whatever that might be) to void a warranty claim. And just what claims might be voided by an exhaust?

Anyways, also consider (and read the DIYs) that other than programming the PSE switch (and clearing the logs), even the moderately skilled wrench can install the center muffler and even the center console switch box on their own!

Good luck, and keep us posted. By the way, mind listing what dealer this was that resisted installing factory parts so that I can avoid them?

PSE parts have been "on sale". We have a launch 991 C2s cab and I just had the kit installed for a pre-tax total of just under $3,300 parts and labor including the new chrome tips that I wanted anyway.

My dealer in the Seattle area has a great service group and is very PCA member friendly.

Id never bad mouth the dealer. I have bought many cars from them and find them to be one of the best ive ever dealt with. I understand their resistance, as Ive dealt with different manufacturers that wouldnt touch my cars.

These guys are willing to help me, they just aren't progressive enough to understand. I get that.

Believe me, id love to save the $$$ but sometimes it just isn't worth the fight.

Thanks for your input though!!

i understand why there are so many threads on exhaust. there are too many options!!!

im to the point of making the decision.

the options as i seem them:

  1. adding PSE and ultimately an X pipe
  2. AWE switch path with the PSE button
  3. Kline iconel with the PSE button

Has anyone dyno'd a non-pse car before and after adding PSE? do any of the above add a discernible amount more horsepower to justify the $ spread?

My dealer has agreed to install and program whatever I get.

Your comments are appreciated and I will post the outcome with vids etc...

For anyone interested, I recently got a quote for the parts listed for a 991S and the total came to $1,435.20. I'm shopping around a few dealers/distributors to see if I can beat that price.

For the muffler part, I assume the one we want is the one listed under the part number provided as "w/sports exhaust"!

I have a 13 C4S with the chrome upgraded exhaust tips. I see SunCoast have those tips not compatible with the PSE. Is replacing the center muffler just that simple as bolt on and off? Any other parts needed or do I need to replace those tips too?

Going through process now in Northern NJ. The closest I'm getting is $1200 on the install (as high as $1800). Where are most of you ordering parts? Dealer said they would try to match online price. Their price just for parts was more than double at $2900.

They had it for around $2,200 on sale, but looks like the price went up again.

I'd try participating on Rennlist too. I'm really not on here much anymore. Much more info and contributions there. Easier to get answers.

South Jersey dealer will do it for $900 but I don't want to drive 1.5 hrs to save $300. I'm waiting on my dealer to respond to the new information.

Based on the videos and discussion on this forum, I'm going to do the PSE wiring/programming with the fabspeed xpipe. I definitely want something louder at lower rpms.

Thanks for the help, and I'll keep you all updated.

If you have an "S", these are the parts you need to add PSE. This is ONLY to control the valves. You can add AWE, or any other system. The only thing that will change is the first item, based on your vehicle's config.

Thank you! I just reread one of your previous posts and took another look at your part list.

So you only need one of the 99111149200 vacuum hoses? I should be good just based on your invoice for adding PSE function to a valvetronic Fabspeed x pipe right?

Thanks

what did you pay in labor if you don't mind? Is it any cheaper than doing the PSE install with the OEM center muffler?

Because the fabspeed is a bolt on replacement, I think it should be the same price
