Nice try, but....

 

Video is meaningless take a GT3 on the same track and with the same driver and tires and compare times. Then tell me it's a GT3 alternative. I don't disagree about wanting a manual (although I prefer my PDK) but it still is down on power, lacks the rear wheel steering and the differences in the suspension. PSS10's can't replace all the development that Porsche engineers put in the GT3.

 

The GT3 is an entirely different package and drive to the rest of the 991 range. The enhancements to the engine and core components alter the dynamics of the car significantly to that of regular 991's. Simply sticking on an X51, exhaust, roll cage and body kit doesn't make the faff a comparable alternative to a GT3.

 

I'm a little disturbed by the engine fires. I understand they fixed the design flaw, but what other flaws could be lurking in that engine? I've also heard rumors that the engine is good for 100k miles, not far above that.

 

How easy people forget.

I'd be a bit nervous too. Imagine another debacle like that or other issues that might not be as serious, but issues none the less.

Plus with all these PCNA buy backs that just got auctioned/unloaded to the dealers floating around. Kind of tarnishes the car I think. Might not bode well for their future status. Who knows?

I'll be watching from the sidelines.

nice car but hate trying to sell it as a GT3 "alternative". other pet peeve is the "purist" line. I get that some folks like manuals, but to say it's a "purist" thing is so lame. ABS? assisted steering?

I stopped watching as soon as the video got to "PDK...yea..no one likes it"

Has this guy been under a rock? there have been numerous reviews on the GT3, they ALL have praised the PDK and said they couldn't imagine the car without it. Slapping on a few aftermarket parts on to a 911 is not going to make it comparable to the GT3...
