New 991s owner
Owned my 2012 991s for four months now and love every moment I get into it. Just wanted to say hello to everyone I been reading all your posts for sometime now. Picked up this one at Hendrick Porsche fully loaded except for full leather and the high end audio.
This 991s is my 4th Porsche since 1974 last one was 2007 boxster. Which leads me to ask one question about these p zero tires. My boxster had continentals and that car tracked so well on any road service with no steering wheel adjustments to keep it straight. But with the 991 tires I'm always making slight steering corrections. So I guess my question is does the boxster have better road manners or are the continentals better that the p zeros.
Also anyone considering the sprint booster buy it had it in my boxster and it's amazing for what it does and my 991s will get one soon.
Thanks all and glad to be part of the this post.

That's good to see that you have both with zeros this probably means that the continentals may just track better on the road than the zeros. My boxster wasn't even an S and that thing was great to throw around hard at 11k and they were all used up.
From one '12 991s owner to another, welcome, enjoy and drive it in good health! On certain highways at above 75, the back end goes side to side and it is unnerving. Found out it is the combo of the rutted road frm trucks and the width of the tires.

Re Sprint Booster: I have not read here anything convincing about it from a customer as opposed to a seller. The 991s is close to maxed out as stock- consider the the extensive mods in the power kit (and the new GTS) cost about $10k is parts to get 30 more hp and slightly shift the torque curve.

Congratulations and the best of luck with your purchase; I'm sure you'll love the 991s.
IMO, the Sprint Booster isn't necessary with the manual transmission, especially when "Sport Mode" is activated. The pedal is very linear and has no hesitation whatsoever. However, that being said, I'm not sure if you'll realize an improvement with the PDK. Again, the Sprint Booster adds no power or torque, it simply remaps the "drive by wire" and provides more linearity.

Had a Z3 in Germany that was lowered with 3 piece wheels wider than stock. When I bought it, it tracked poorly (very twitchy on the Autobahn) with Pirellis on the front... but... the guy I bought it from had just changed the rear tires to Nokian and left the Pirellis on front because they didn't look too worn out visually. Because the tires all looked good, I was going to change all kinds of old suspension bushings and crap upon the suggestion of some BMW forum members. I just didn't believe that I needed to do that just to make my car track properly so I bought new matching tires for the front even though they "looked" to be in good condition. As soon as I put the new tires on, the car tracked perfectly.
Not sure if it had anything to do with the tires being Pirelli, but I doubt it. Probably just coincidence, but If I were you, I'd take a look at your front tires and make sure they are good to go. Like I said above, visually, I never would have thought the tires needed to be changed to make the car track straight.

Setting interesting I'm going to give that a try and see what happens. Thanks for your input.
I put a Sprint Booster on my 2014 Wrangler, because the programming of the drive-by-wire throttle made power delivery deplorable. Made a huge difference. But I can't see where there's any need at all for that on a 991 -- or any Porsche I've ever owned or driven for that matter.
