Question Mysterious triangle appears in digital speedometer

I have had car for over 2 years now, had my annual service done in January. Today, while driving in normal "Manual" mode (no sport / sport+ mode), I noticed this triangle appearing for a moment or so and then disappearing/reappearing again as I give more gas.

I've seen some embedded posts before but not sure what exactly is this indicator for? I also thought from previous posts that it's an "upshift sign" for the manual cars....2 issues: 1) mine is PDK! 2) why it reappears when I give more gas?

It is indeed an upshift light, and only appears when you're in PDK manual mode. It suggests upshifts on light throttle, and doesn't under heavier throttle. In general I ignore it as it's way too economy-minded...also I never drive in auto mode for same reason.

I have the 7 speed MT and it also appears frequently...I never follow it as it has you up shifting at ridiculously low RPMs IMO.

I have a M/T so I don't know if this will work for you. You can disable it in settings.

I started seeing this after a service visit a year ago or so. It wasn't there before. I suspect it is a software update that was previously only on newer cars. I think I've had since my 40k visit or so.
The funny thing is it still shows in sport plus mode while in 6th gear...

What year is your car? Because I've never seen this setting on my 2014. The other thread leads me to believe that the setting was removed after 2013.

Mine shows up in Sport mode. Haven't tried Sport Plus yet because I am in break-in period with only 250 miles.

It's to try and get you to shift up to get better gas mileage so the corporate average can be attained.

On the post-2013 cars, I believe the upshift indicator shows up in every mode. In my '15 TT, it shows up whenever I'm in manual mode, even in Sport +. As others have said, it is very economy driving minded and would have you upshift at ridiculously low RPMs. You'd be in 5th gear by the time you're doing approximatly 40 mph . . .

Why would they have an upshift indicated in an automatic? Thought people bought an auto trans because they didn't know how or when to shift?? lol Flame on!
