X-pipe or secondary muffler delete

I just ordered a base C4, without PSE

What do you guys recomend, going X-pipe route, or the secondary mufflers delete, to achieve a bit more sound that with PSE

Just a bit more, not total race car, as it is a daily driver

I thought about the secondary muffler delete and read in the forums it may be too loud. I have the awe switchpath x pipe with fabspeed headers/200 cell cats. The car screams with the valves closed at around 4K. With the valves open it sounds like a burning bear getting hit by lightning. needless to say it's f$&@ loud!

Thanks for the info

So i guess x-pipe PLUS 200 Cel cats combo is maybe too much

I guess i will go just x-pipe first then

X pipes are generally loud even without the 200 cell cats. If you want to play it safe I think a complete cargraphic exhaust with center muffler or akrapovic would be the way to go. I got my awe xpipe used off someone who thought it was too loud.

Here's a thread that helped me a lot when choosing an exhaust.

Center muffler delete with x-pipe is not that loud. I think it's comparable to PSE.

That's true... With the valves closed or under 3500 rpm. That's my experience and I had pse. Over 3500 rpm or with valves open the awe switchpath is f!$&@ loud! Maybe the other x pipes like cargraphic, fabspeed, or speedtech are not as loud but to me, all the x pipes have similar designs.

My understanding is the Awe Switchpath is an X-pipe that utilizes the secondary mufflers when the valves are closed but when the the PSE button is pressed (on the PSE compatible AWE version) the valves are always open and the exhaust bypasses the secondary side mufflers and only goes through the X-pipe - which is why it is much more aggressive than a simple X-pipe alone.

I currently have the Secondary muffler bypass via the Sharkwerks pipes in conjunction with the PSE cemtre muffler. It sounds great but is very loud and there is noticeable drone in the cabin at roughly 2-3k rpm. Plus, it is always loud to the. point that I can't really enjoy the car as I have to be judicious with throttle application in certain areas due to the outside volume. I love the sound but have become a little self conscious in certain scenarios as there is no way to be more discreet other than feather the throttle - the PSE button just changes the tone a bit but not the volume. If someone wants a very aggressive and loud exhaust and doesn't mind a little drone this exhaust bypass would fit the bill.

I have an appointment to have the AWE Switchpath to be installed next Wed. My understanding is it should be very aggressive with the button on and have a higher race car like pitch - a better "tone" than just the side muffler delete with less drone.
