Thumbs up 911: 2017 Base vs 2015-2016 S

I've been toying with the idea of trading in my S6 for a 911. I like a lot of the updates in the '17 models, but even the base (I'd get a AWD cab), is pushing my budget a bit. If I look at 2015-2016, I'd be able to get the 4S. I don't track the car - it's mostly for daily use, so I'd imagine the '17 base with the turbo (low end torque) would be the better way to go. What do you guys think?

After driving the S's for years, I opted for a base 2017 ( C4) which has the same hp. as the previous S that I had. Plus new turbo format and great torque at low rpm, I opted to save the money and use it for options...
No regrets!
It's as fast as you need without getting tickets.

+1
Left a C2s cab for a C2 base, knocks the old car out of the bat...
must haves: GT wheel w/ sports chrono and sport exhaust, IMHO. The 18 way seats are awesome but adds up...

I'm about to pick up a 991 C2 cab as well for my daily driver. It's more than enough car ...

Ventilated seats for summer, heated steering wheel for winter ( + 4 winter tires).
Prem pkg + (keyless is nice). Extra leather 2 tone seating makes for a nicer interior IMO.

I agree, if you buy from the lot it will most likely have premium package. There are so many nice options to have...

Mine is Bordeaux red and black , dual tone where the deviation stitching is part. Never thought of that as a major option but it's pretty awesome.

For those who are ordering '17s, what kind of discount are you getting off MSRP?

That's the optional steering wheel, right?

I chose a well equipped base over a S due to that. The OEM non-PSE is too quite. I leave mine open most of the time. There's some aftermarket systems that may help. The rear apron is different which adds considerable cost in case you try go OEM afterwards (6k according to my SA).

4-5% is the norm. I got 5%.

I dont think full leather is a must but thats prolly personal ref. BOSE is ok i could definitely live without. My original choice was base manual with burmester but ended up prebuilt psc, pse, air lift, premium plus, 18-way seats and BOSE.

Im loving the manual and the turbo whistling sound just music in my ears.

My build is as follows:

C2 Base, 20" Wheels, PDK, 14 Way, Premium icw 14 Way, Keyless Entry/Drive, Sunroof, Sport Chrono, PSE, Multifunction Steering Wheel, GT Steering Wheel, Lane Assist, Bose.

I'm waffling on the PSE (I know "boo"!!) but I've read here that regardless of what position the switch is in, once RPMs are over 3,500 the flaps open up and you hear the louder exhaust. Not sure I always want to have that noise as a driving companion. To each his own though.

I don't think you can have both the MF steering wheel and the GT steering wheel, pick one.
