How many miles on your tires before having to replace them?

My 911 has Pirelli P-Zero tires on it from the factory. The rear tires are almost down to the wear bar indicators, so they need to be replaced soon. The front tires look like they have a lot more life on them. With over 17,000 miles on them, it has me wondering if that is normal wear. What kind of mileage are others getting from your tires before having to replace them?

Mileage you get from P-Z are really depending on hard you drive them, but around 17K is pretty good usage. I have read the average is around 12 - 15K with some getting as much as around 20K, so getting 17K is not bad.

On my 2012 991 base, I replaced rears around 13500 and just replaced fronts with 17,000. Down to close to wear bar indicators and some dry rot on fronts.

Generally speaking the rears wear twice as fast as fronts. 11-12k on rears is not that unusual depending on your driving habits. If you baby it, 20k is certainly doable.

17K is very good tire wear IMO. I replaced my rear tires at 13K.

depends on the type of tire you are running because the rubber compound is optimized for temperature. Summer tires in cold weather wear quickly and winter tires in hot weather wear abnormally fast. Summer tires in hot weather wear according to the wear index rating.

You took a chance, would not take this chance again, imho.

I just replaced my original PZeros at 18500. Fronts we're still fine but went with MPS4s all the way around. BIG difference in ride noise etc..

remember tread only makes a difference in the rain, i've driven in the summer on a track below wear bars and had plenty of grip.
