Which Would You Rather Have?

2017 Targa 4S with 7k miles or 2017 Turbo with 30k miles? Both will average around the $120k price tag. Assume the turbo has similar options as the Targa. I love both of the these cars but can only afford one and want to keep this car for a while. This will be my daily driver. Pro's and con's of each and which will hold its value more down the road? Yes, I am new to the Porsche family.... Thank you for your guidance and help.

I was just looking for any pros and cons for those who own each of the vehicles. Any maintenance issues with Targa retractable top? Or if you had a chance to do it over again. Those kinda things.....

2017 Turbo. No question you'll adore that thing and not regret it over the targa. Especially if you're owning it long-term.

There is a discussion on Rennlist now where I guy had a seam come loose on the inside of his Targa's top - first time ever seen and some have over 50k miles of trouble-free use and mine is perfect. You are not comparing apples to apples though since I assume the Turbo is not a Cab, right? For me my nice car has to have a drop top and I would never consider a hard top or even just a sunroof, or anything other than a manual as well but that is a different thread.

No sir, the Turbo would be a hardtop. I don't want a full convertible. The Targa is just different and gives the t-top type of openess that would be cool. I don't see very many Targas. Not sure if that is because they are a pain in the butt....

With the top up it is just like a hardtop with a great rear window that wraps and provides outstanding visibility. And the only reason you do not see many is because they made many more of the others! Opening and closing a top with the press of a button is far from being a pain in the butt!

I'd vote for the turbo, not a big fan of the targa but never owned one.

Turbo is more car and they are typically loaded up with options. The Targa is less common and better looking in my opinion (never loved the side air intakes on Turbo). The Targa likely retains a greater percentage of its original MSRP but the Turbo costs more and a good portion of the depreciation is already built in. Tough call with the mileage difference...if mileage was closer no brainer on the Turbo. That said if you are going to put on a lot of miles as a daily driver it will negatively impact resale on both fairly quickly. Nothing beats test driving them decide and you cant go wrong here!

110% agree. The Targa top is complex BUT Porsche has figured it out - Targa is the way to go.
