Get a 95 because there are no CEL (check engine light) issues because it is OBD1 as opposed to the 96-98's being OBD2. Here are some of my costs:

Oil change once a year $165 (both filters/Mobil 1)

Just replaced all brakes including rotors, pads, sensors, even the caliper bolts $925. This was for parts only and a friend and I did the job ourselves which is pretty easy and actually fun. I order all my parts from Sunset Porsche in Oregon because they have the best prices.

Going to tackle the 30K service probably next Spring and we will also do this ourselves. Looks like all parts should come out to $900 or maybe a little less. That includes all plugs, plug wires, distributors, rotors, fuel and air filters, etc.

Replaces window seat because it corroded and the window fell out of it. $130 for the parts from Sunset and did it myself....piece of cake.

What Cactushead said. I owned mine for 5 years with no issues whatsoever. Regular maintenance items, brakes, tires (rears especially) etc. Loved that car.

Almost nil, they are very solid cars. Once a year oil changes, every 30K there is a big service. Other then that, not much. The stock shocks are not the best & tend to last to about 40kmi.

While the earlier cars are ODBI & don't have the SAI cel, they do have 12hp less, & much lower torque curve.

Both of mine have been great, just oil changes, & AC recharge.

how much would a 95 c2 and c4 with under 50k miles cost? does the 12 less hp play a big factor? is the 95 c2 much slower than opposed to the 96-98?

Really doesn't affect the price, you are in the $30-45k range depending on what you find.

Yes, the 95 is a bit slower, put feels more raw then the 96+

Under 50k, $30-$34k depending on mileage & condition. I had a 95 and with a few minor tweaks (mufflers, airbox & filter, cat bypass pipes and chip) I would walk away from 96 and up 993's, the 12 hp difference is not that big.

You need a Turbo kit for that, (or a modded 3.8) either way it's going to be $25k + to do it right. You might as well by a 993TT for the $ you are going to have into it.

how much HP would a turbo kit add? also how much do 95 turbo's run for? so it wouldn't be worth it to buy a carrera 2 and do the turbo upgrade or should i just go for the 95 turbo? which would be saving more money if those were my options? if i took the turbo kit/c2 route i would def have to go to RPM Racing seeing how at least i know they know what there doing.

There is no 95 Turbo, the 993 TT's are in the $60k + range.

Why do you want so much HP & you don't even have one? There not slow stock, & still faster them 90% of the cars on the street.

3.8l, SuperCharger, or Turbo, you are well into the 300's. For far less you can just regear the trans, ($6000) & be faster every where.

270 HP is plenty of power because the car is relatively light and tossable (with the proper suspension) and +1 on the regear!

In the US we got very long gears. If you have driven a 993, you will notice there is like a 1300 RPM drop between 1 & 2nd.

A lot of people get the Euro gearing reduction, so you get much more acceleration in every gear, 6th becomes more useful. You can also get custom gear ratios, but that's a lot more $$.

i have driven a 964 but never a 993 yet. looking forwards to as soon as i buy the 993 but when getting a euro gearing reduction does it effect the MPG, is the mileage better or not at all. thanks for clearing up the regearing issue.
