Tim's Proto 650 vs Budman's GT700 preview.

$9500 to be exact including new k24/18g turbos. i did the install myself
$9,500 is right. The key to it is finding a set of K24's at a good price. They used to be more $$$, but lately I have noticed they are commanding less. For instance, I bought new K24's on ebay for $2,400, had Proto re-work them for $1,200 or so. I Purchase the proto software for about 3K, a Greddy for about $300, a 5 bar FPR for about $150 and plugs $50. That totals approx. $7,100.00 for the parts. I already had V-flow, ported headers, DV's and exhaust, so I was in pretty good shape for $7,100.00 (parts cost) - I ended up going the full 700 route and that is a little more money, but the 650 kit is a great deal for the performance you get. If you go further with mods, all future software upgrades are only about $300 each...so it's mainly just parts cost and labor from there on...the future tuning is relatively inexpensive.

I got a great deal on a set of new K24s as well and sent them to Proto. I've already got a Proto-tune so expect this to be an easy upgrade once we finish sourcing all the parts. My local tuner/wholesaler should be a board sponsor soon enough and will likely help bring down the pricing on this kit considerably. I just can't wait to get it install and invest in a few barrels of race gas as well. Glad to hear the results are worthwhile.
Joe I believe that is his total including the EVO diverter valves and vflow intake. He bought used GT2 intercoolers and is using stock hoses.
hey mark correct on our run today i was running 1.19(69%) in hi boost after it stabilized(after the spike) i know buddy was running 1.42 after it stabilized so he was pulling on me from because his displacement more boost more bang i am happy with the spool up nice and quick and it pulls hard every gear just have to tweek the bc(gain start boost) and watch the afrs running 12.5 /.82v
i say if i was running 1.42 it would be dead even maybe the proto would pull a little from the increase in redline who knows not will ing to blow it up to find out
the diy install was fun cant wait for the next project (coilovers)

OK...that makes sense....and of course it does not include the extensive intake stuff that comes w/ a full Proto GT 700 package or the $1700 in dyno time, hand tuning from Todd (which I am not complaining about, by the way....the main reason I drove my car to Arkansas) that I got.
Lets just be clear that a stock TT that is shipped to Todd for a 650 package is not going to have a 10K price tag. It requires a lot of effort on your end.
Rob, I see you lurking....are you going to hook me up w/ the angry man?
