Why is stock not good enuf?
Why is stock not good enuf?
Used to have 02 stage 1 tt. I just bought used TT with issues and fixing up.
After driving for a week I am not thrilled by .7 bar with .8 spikes. Second and third gear doesnt feel that fast. Its lowered, tubis, and sachs clutch.
Was going to go to FVD and get stage 1 again but than saw that great epl deal and feel I wont be content with stage 1.
So why inclusive of myself, does it appear no one is content with stock, or even after modding, more modding?

If it does not scare you some then it is not fast enough!! The funny thing is that by the time you get used to the power you want more. This car goes fast so well that by the time you are spinning and sliding you are breaking parts. How many other cars can you get in with nearly 700 hp that will run in the low 11 or high 10 sec range that most morons could still control? Not to say that anyone could but this car handles speed well especially with some suspension and brake work. I now know why people say go straight to stage 4 or further but be ready to build the motor. 600 hp is how these cars should come!
HAHA, very funny Tim.
Stock is never good enough because you come to places like this and realize what opportunities are out their for your car.
If you did not come here you wouldn't see these 700+ RWHP cars and would be happy with stock.

I'm actually thinking stock would be easier for my application...
Quite honestly, unless you're running it at the track or planning to do some time and losing your driving privilages, more than stock HP is a recipe for trouble... And even at the track, as I'm dealing with right now, the BS of "making it work" or "risking" breaking it, or the BS some will say about "You're only fast because of all that HP and no talent" makes me wonder if focusing on suspension and brakes isn't the smart money spent!

There's never enough power on a straight line. You get always used to it! (and before the 1000hp club comes stating otherwise...no I haven't driven a 1000hp car
)
On a track it's different game and that's why I like it.
You can take some high hp cars even with a stock engine.
It all comes down to driving and ridiculous power is not even needed.

I evolve my car to stay competitive at time trials and track events with newer model car releases like the Z06 or 997GT3. My car is six years old!! The bar has been raised to 500hp and lighter weight as standard issuse. My car could not compete at its stock level (but it can now)
Mike however has a great point, the more you mess with the more you have to go wrong with!!

The reasons for modifying a car can vary from person to person . Some want a "faster" track time and others simply want a little extra growl in traffic revving in neutral . I see nothing wrong with either because it's all about having fun with ones car.
For me --I just like the idea of creating a more unique and personalized vehicle to my taste . Thus,it's not a question of stock not being enough but rather about enhancing what already is.
