Hey all! I am not a PCAR owner yet but hope to be sooner then later. I have been a trol on this site for about 6 months. Not sure why I did not join sooner but here I am. Don't flame me too bad. I new I wanted to buy a Porsche but just was never sure what model. The 996 TT seams to be the perfect fit for me. Great looks, unreal performance, comfort and road manners. I considered the Z06, Viper and M5. I have a BMW 335 and just sold a 2004 M3. Both great cars but not a 996 TT. I am hoping that I will be able to gather enough information her to be able to buy the right one for me. I am looking at 2002 or 2003 model years. The prices seem to be all over the place. I have seen a low of $44,000 to over $70,000. That is quite a spread.
Anyway when I get close to pulling the trigger I trust that I can ask your opinions.
Thanks!

I did install the piggy back chip from Turbo Tune. It really woke the car up. I was amazed that I could get that much improvement in performance for just a little over $300.00.
Test drive them all and decide. Different strokes for different folks. If you really just like lighting them up and being launched from a standstill the 996TT is impressive, but the Z06 and Viper have the upper hand. However, if plastic laden interiors and cheap seats really annoy you, the American cars are still sub-par. If you want the size and comfort of a sedan, the M5 is a no-brainer. If you want a well-balanced sports car, the 996TT fits the bill. I have owned many cars, and usually replace them every 6mos-1yr just because I get bored with them and end up longing for more. But it's a costly decision to keep trading $50K+ cars. I have a twin turbo Z06 and it's stupid fast. It is a bear to keep straight under full throttle, but boy is it fun. I just can't get over how cheap the interior is for such an expensive car. I love my 996TT cabriolet, but it too has it's shortcomings. Definitely needs an aftermarket exhaust to give it a more menancing tone.
