Plastic air flow regulator Pre MAF
Plastic air flow regulator Pre MAF
any thoughts as to whether this air flow regulator in the 996 OEM airbox makes any difference performance wise in or out, obviously one stills needs the wire mesh grill behind it though ?
That thing straightend the air out so the MAF can get a proper reading of air volume entering the car. Without it, air density, read at the MAF, will fluctuate and not be representitive of actual air volume passing through the intake.
Air restriction...
I ve removed this item from all the cars i ve owned...including several M3 and 3 porsche cars...Also i ve removed it at my 996TT without any problem for about 10000km...
so does the take off improve performance or not? I think we are clear it doesnt disrupt anything, but is it any good???

So why did you put it back in????
I'm not sure what your mods are, but unless you run race gas and have done some work...1.2 is fine.
I am doing 1,1 with std gas and wanted to pull the gates a little more to be at the 1,2, is it safe with std gas? or should I just stay as I am? I only have 5 FPR for the gas part nothing else
There is some debate on this...I would not run over 1,1 with 91 (PON)...I don't know what your other mods are, but for most 1,1 is fine as max. Remember it is not all about boost....it is about power.
Does this 3 rd gear look decent to you?
