This guy was pretty quick and got thru traffic better than I did... It made the run session a lot of fun running him down, and truly did NOT want to take the pass on him, as I was trying to learn what he was doing... Big fun!

This was the first session on the first day, so I suspect he was trying to sort it out and find his marks... There were multiple "splices" in the footage, as there was a lot of poor driving captured on tape in that first session... I was actually pretty surprised that I was able to match his pace and that right out of the box i was able to run a 2:10 and a couple of 2:11s. Wish "my" weekend would have lasted after one session, as I'm pretty sure I would have busted out of the 2:10s!

Mikelly, how did you learn to drive that good? Do you learn through PCA's driving education sessions? Coz I will sign-up with PCA if that's what you learn on those sessions.
Thanks for the compliments, but I'm still an "intermediate-learning to get to advanced" student... I'm in their "white" run group, which is advanced student-solo category.
PCA is but one avenue to get to driving at higher levels on track. You defenitely need seat time. That was my 15th day on track this year, and my 28th in the last 18 months. Lots of seat time in any car will make you a much better and more aware driver.

Cool, mine is still at the shop trying to figure out the CEL; they ordered the Porsche software reader.
Here's what I do before every track event, and it doesn't matter if it is one day or 3 days worth:
Bleed brakes
Change oil and filter
Change trans and diff fluid
Change to track pads
Change to track wheels/tires
Change suspension sway bar settings
Check all suspension bolt points and turbo hose connections
Check wheel bearings
What a novice would be concerned with:
Bleed brakes
Check rotors for proper spec thickness/ cracks per the manual
Check pads for thickness material, if less than 3/16 inch, replace before event.
Also, every PCA region holds tech days before their track events. You must get your car inspected by a shop or certified tech inspector. Go to your local pca region/chapter and download a copy of the tech sheet to get an idea of things you should inspect or have inspected before an event.

Mike, your car runs fast no doubt about it, but that aint no cup car seriously, if that was a cup car (no disrespect) it would eat you, me or any Turbo up for that matter, you could live with it easy enough on the straights, but he should carry unreal speed in the corners, as I say don't get me wrong dude but that sounded very different from a cup car. Here is a little footage from our friend Sean Edwards winning at SPA last weekend, watch the pack go through Eau Rouge at serious speed http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=XI4ONtkWZCc
I don't know what specifically it is, but I know it's a 996 "racecar" with a bunch of new go fast parts and the guy was sorting it out... I was just happy hanging with him...

Na Mike don't get me wrong, you go very well around there, pretty damn good infact but that car (DRIVER) has bags more pace in the bag for sure, especially on the corners.
