thought I blew my engine....need help
Did some spirited driving tonight and the following happened. I was getting on it in third from lower RPMs and at about 5k rpms the car lost all power. In any case, I thought I blew my engine. I pushed in the clutch and coasted in neutral. Car kept ideling (pretty rough) but wouldn't react to the gas pedal at all. I shut off the car and pretty much immediately restarted it with no problem. To my surprise everything seemed back to normal. I took it easy coming back but the car seemed to be doing fine....idle, boost all seemed normal.
Does anyone have any ideas what this was? trying to get a ECU read out tomorrow but would like to get some input from you first.

First you need to get the codes otherwise we're just guessing. Yoiu got no lights? That being said, it sounds like you went into limp mode....there are a number of things that could explain this....Blew a hose off or some other leak, Blew the MAF, TB shutdown, ran out of fuel (limits of your fuel system were reached) etc. When you shut off the engine, you get a soft reset....It is possible that you exceeded some computer set thresh hold and sent it into limp....and it might not return, but the codes will help understand the situation.
Listen to Wross....and get the codes asap. He was super right on with some of my problems....

The history showed 2 misfire. Cylinder 1 and 3. My technician didn't think that did would cause a shut down or whatever I experienced. Car runs fine now but I am worried that it will happen again.
Codes please...What fuel system are you running in that beast?...only reason I ask is your symptoms sound a lot like mine when I tried to run my race profile....just plain ran out of fuel (I need injectors and rails to go any farther). BTW, I could repeat mine...when ever I hit about .7 bar it shut down...
I don't have the codes but I am running 850cc injectors and whatever comes with the evo 700 kit. When the car was on the dyno it still had fuel left to go. The shut down happened at .5 bar and around 4500 rpms.
