Thanks man. You will definitely understand my passion for Porsche when you take delivery of your Turbo S.
Yesterday, some guy pitching for my business was telling me how he traded in his C4 for one of those new Volvo S40R's.
I had the biggest grimace on my face when he told me that. I was in shock. I said, "How could you POSSIBLY do something like that?"
He said, "Well, this thing is fast, it's got 300 Horsepower."
I said, "Dude, all I have to say to you is this: THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE!"
I think he got it.

Also, I can afford a Lambo or a Ferrari, but I diss them because I can afford to.

Why do people keep quoting what pro race drivers can do with fast cars around some track. How many people on this board or any board can drive like a Phil Bennett or even a washed-out race driver? I bet if we were to drive those exact same cars our numbers will come out very different, perhaps the complete opposite.
15 year olds like to blab about what the car mags say. We adults should just blab about our bank account, our own track times, and our driving records.

The reason we quote pro drivers is to gauge what the upper end capabilities of the cars are. It is really the best way to isolate the driver variable in evaluating a car's performance capability.
Do you have a better methodology?
"Well, why don't you go test a Carrera GT, GT3-RS, 360CS, Murcielago, SLR, Enzo, GT2, GT3, etc. and inform us of your results."
Top Gear isn't enough for Allen (even though ex-F1 drivers have been known to do their tests), and I'm sure AMS isn't either:
Autodromo del Levante in Bari:
CGT: 53.86
Enzo: 54.98
Merci: 55.82
SLR: 57.45
I agree though, all this dick measuring is so silly. Driver skill is MUCH more responsible for performance in the real world where most of us play.

That's what I like about people like Jay Leno. He looks at the lambo and he buys it. He looks at the porsche, the gt40, the ferrari, the SLR, and he buys 'em too.
People like us have to diss other cars that we can't afford to own too.
What'll Jay say about us if he reads this thread?

No offence, but how the hell do you know what my family can and can't afford. I have never even met you and your telling me what my family is worth, Hell I don't even know what my family is worth. Even if we can't afford a lamborghini I still have a right to have an opinion and I doubt many people will tell you that Lambos hold up over the long term.

If by long term you mean one to two years adn about 3000 miles. Acutally in all honesty I beleive that the new Lamoborghinis, meaning the cars produced after the VW takeover will hold up rather well. I have yet to see a Diablo with more than 3000 miles on it that didn't look like it had been through war. Im sure that the Gallardo will actually hold up pretty well since many of the interior componets are made by Audi. Maybe the Murci will to, I am not sure whether that car was produced under VW ownership or not.

Well obviously you have owned a lot of Lambos and maybe you take really good care of them but can you honestly say that a majority of diablos from the early years really hold up all that well?

Do you think your audi's will hold up any better in the long term, especially resale value?
Ditto for your mercedes.
If you care so much about cars holding up, go ask your dad to buy you hondas and toyotas.
How old were you in '91 btw. How many generations of lambo's have you really seen?
Why don't you put your dad on the board instead. We want to talk to adults who know how much they're worth.

Quoting those numbers is like getting the performance numbers for all the F1 cars for a given track by a given driver. What's the point? You can own and drive an F1 car but that doesn't mean you'll be as fast as Schumacher.
Those record times belongs to the driver that made it on that track and on that day with those setups. Those times are not repeatable in the real world in LA freeways.

Judging from those cars, your dad's bank account doesn't have as many zeros as Jay's yet.
Besides, my comment had nothing to do with your dad's worth.
It was about how Jay can talk about any car without putting it down. Unlike Hamann and some of us, he's not one dimensional.
It's not always about the need for absolute speed.
He's beyond that. He's collecting cars like how I collect art.
What a stupid remark. A well taken care of Lambo will last forever. Ive been driving mine for 6 years, its perfect outside and inside, spraying nitrous from a 150-200 shot. So lets say right around 750-800 flywheel hp. I havent even changed the plugs on my car yet.
Now, how many of you running that kind of power can say the same? Wait, let me answer that for you....none. Ive been around Porsches for far longer than many of you, had Porsches that would blow the dorrs off of ANY 996TT here. Doesnt happen.
Porsche makes a great car, but its boring compared to other cars out there. Thats why i sold my Porsche, and drive a Lamborghini.
