Taking her back to civilized mode

I've been doing a fair amount of work on my track car as of late and decided that I'm going to make the 996TT more street friendly, and more usable as a street driver.

First thing up was to source some street seats. Adam B. and I are working out the details to get his heated/power seats to me. Should have them within a few weeks. Next move up was removing the DASport roll bar and harness/camera mount. Saturday I did that and installed Euclid's i-Porsche Ipod installation kit in the car. I also talked with a local installer about doing metalic silver tint on the windows within the next two weeks.

Next, I'll get the new front bumper cover to the shop to have it painted, and order the new front fender liners for the car so I can install all of that at once. Then I may pick up a carbon front lip for it, and have the clear/3m protection redone on the car.

I'm currently commuting several days per week about 150 miles R/T to a customer's site for some work we're doing and I'd like to enjoy the car on clear/dry days if possible. And since I'm moving towards finishing out my track car, I don't see tracking my turbo this coming year. The plan is to enjoy it on the street for a while and see what happens with the economy/stockmarket/prices of these cars!

Before anyone asks, I do not plan to sell my "track gear", as I've learned never to say never, and don't want to sell the stuff and then later have to replace it. So I'm going to hang onto the bar and my harnesses/camera mount. If I sell my GT3 RS seats, I'll let you guys know here first.

Thumbs up Street Version

Good luck with your remodeling.
I have the window tint you referred to and love it.
If you need any pics let me know, it looks rich on the 996TT.

I hear you... went through the same phase with our turbo... Slowly but surely trying to reel it back in so that it's driver-friendly again. No more crazy loud exhausts, super-jarring suspension, crappy clutches etc.. for me

Steve, The goal isn't to completely vacate the site. I'm just returning the car to a little bit of civility, for a little while. I'll still be developing the chassis as I go, and I still plan to do the rest of the mods on my list, along with Dan's airbox lid. Just trying to line everything up right!

Didn't say I would never track her again, but it does make more sense to devalue the track car I have sitting in the garage instead of the 911TT!
