Lawyer recommendation

Here is the scenario:

Porsche is at a stop light waiting for the light to change. Motor cycle rider does not brake at all and while going appx 40-50mph hits right rear bumper causing damange to rear quarter panel, bumper, tail light and bends rim. Biker stumbles away trying to flee scene before cops arrive.

The police took a full police report but this is not available yet as the biker was potentially drunk so he had to be followed to the hospital to confirm.

There is a witness who saw the whole thing.

Need a lawyer who is familiar with this type of scenario to get full compensation.

Any suggestions/recommendations?

Sorry to hear that D. At least you weren't the one on the motorcycle. I think since you were not hurt, your insurance company will be the best ones to fight for you. However I have a lawyer doing my accident case with the unlicensed driver that hit me in the M if you decide you still want an attorney. I think I would be more worried about finding a good body shop than a good lawyer.

Go through insurance....Screw the lawyer, you dont need one unless you want to wait 3 years for the settlement.

Now the important question to us bikers Was it a crotch rockett or a Harley/Cruiser?

Does he have insurance? If yes, then I'd relax a bit....

You need all the usual documentation you can get- photos, diagram, police report, etc, etc. You can birddog this or pay the atty $300 an hour to do.

If he has insurance you can go through his or yours...just don't let THEM jerk you around- the other guy is fully liable for all your losses, his policy and what 'they cover' are not your concern. Keep in mind that both his insurance and your own insurance really don't have your best interests at heart- they both want to minimize the repairs...

I need a lawyer to collect diminished value on the bike that ran into me. He claimed fault so it should be a straight forward settlement. Looking for an attorney that will work on a contingency fee. Any reccomendations? need this ASAP thanks.

No recommendations on the lawyer... However, the BEST body shop in So.Cal for Porsche is Deschler's in Orange. Seriously consider them when you are choosing a body shop. They are meticulous and your Diminished Value will be minimal if you get the repair done RIGHT.

As others have said, expect to pay an attorney a lot and get little in return for a dimished value claim, particularly since the damage sounds to be cosmetic.

I had a similar incident, but it was a hit and run in a hospital parking lot...no witnesses. Damage was a 90 degree strike from the back side half of the front door and back to turbo inlet. Really just a dent that didn't affect the driveability. Not much you can do insofar as diminished value is concerned and the amount of money you'd spend with an attorney would probably exceed the depreciation you are looking to be compensated for. I just had the body shop take a bunch of pictures so I can show any future buyer the actual extent of what is actually cosmetic damage....replaced the window actuator and turbo inlet box....after that, I know that I can expect some negative feedback if and when I go to sell....paint gauge will show repaint....but just be up front and honest....it's cosmetic and not structural....but it will affect resale especially when this and other forums suggest you look for the perfect car with no issues.....Freakin' hit and run a$$hole cost me the $500 deductible, but no sense letting it ruin your enjoyment with the car. Insofar as diminished value goes, it's a bit of a nebulous concept that's not universally recognized or accepted and I personally think it's more trouble than it's worth considering what appears to be minimal damage to your car. You don't even know if the other guy is insured. If he's not, there's no pocket to dig into.
