When you urge Rob to get some verified data (namely a 60-130) for his car you are preaching to the choir (me). However I know someone who witnessed the 1k dyno pull. Again, why Rob refuses to get a verified time, only he knows. The car does make the claimed power, that is a fact.
I am not suprpised that we see eye-to-eye regarding objective performance data. You have always been willing to put your car to the test, and post the results, regardless of where they may fall, and I commend you for that.
I did not dispute that Rob’s car produced over 1000 RWHP. Rather, I simply asked about a dyno-graph verifying the impressive accomplishment. Moreover, I would be interested in information regarding the dyno, boost, power-band, etc. Given that Rob only has 0.2 liters more displacement than Scott’s car, I am interested to know how Rob managed to produce 120 more RWHP than Scott. I am not saying it is impossible, nor am I rejecting the claim. Rather, I am simply asking for verification, along with some insight concerning how it was accomplished. IMHO, if someone posts about dyno results – particularly record breaking, previously unattainable dyno results – they should be willing to produce the dyno-graph to verify it. Rob has boasted about his record breaking dyno numbers for months now, without any verification that I am aware of (I freely admit that I might have missed the posted verification, which is why I asked for a prior link). Therefore, I think it is reasonable to ask for the record breaking dyno graph. This is particularly true in Rob’s case because, in addition to not posting the dyno graph, he likewise refuses to disclose objective performance data. Pardon my inquisitive, borderline skeptical mind, but when someone repeatedly boasts of a record breaking 1000+ RWHP dyno pull, but refuses to run his car in an objective setting, I ask questions.
As to your friend who witnessed the dyno pull, I again do not doubt you. To the contrary, I hold your word in high esteem. On the other hand, I do not know your friend and subjective, anecdotal accounts of monumental events are not always entirely reliable. Hence:

Based on the foregoing, I personally would love to see the objective proof of the 1000 RWHP run, along with some explanatory data – not because I reject the accomplishment, but rather, simply to fill in the gaps and solidify the presently unverified claim.

Craig

Once again you are very long winded and probably enjoy reading your own verbage; however back to your point, if you would like to see the dyno graph just call Todd. It is that easy! I hope this helps fill in the gaps you are seeking.
Cheers
Robert

I don't believe you have to go much farther than the specs provided for both cars. I believe you will find the difference in the "weak link" regarding maximum available power.
Scott had GT30R's and Rob has GT35 R's.
GT30R
* Ideal for medium displacement engines making up to 460 hp
* Ideal for twin-turbo applications on engines making up to 900 hp
GT35R
* Horsepower 400 - 600 times 2 is 800 -1200 hp
* Displacement 2.0L - 4.5L
In addition I believe one has turbo heads while the other has GT3 heads. Although the turbo heads were fitted for larger valves, the combustion chamber will not flow as much volumn as the GT3 heads.
A credit to Scott's motor is it's parts are balanced. I believe that motor is producing very close to it's max given it's parts. Adding more boost will not gain much. It has smaller cams, but again excellent match.
Rob's motor, while producing 120 more hp, has not max'ed, it can accomodate more flow with those heads, cams and turbo's. The easiest way to accomplish this is more displacement. I believe Rob has a 3.8L, accomplished with 102 mm pistons, add a 80.4 mm crank and he will fully utilize his turbo's flow capacity but not the capacity of his heads.
If you really want to make these cars faster you need more torque coming on at lower rpm range. Add a stroker crank and you problems are solved. Think of it this way. Torque is the ability to accelerate. The more torque, the faster you accelerate. If it comes on earlier, you accelerate sooner.

If you want to know the maximum power your heads will produce (given all other components are up to the task) ........ have them flowed , then use the flowing formula:
cfm = cubic feet per minute
note* With a normally asperated motor to find max. hp your heads will accommodate
cfm (your head flow numbers) x .27 x number of cylinders
To find max hp your heads are capable of producing for turbo motor applications :
hp (using NA hp formula above) x boost +1 Atmosphere

Running a fast 1/4 or even a 60 to 130 for that matter has a lot more to do with certain details doen to the car rather then pure HP.
I have been there... seen it and done it... more then once....
as far as Craig's post... Craig, if you look at the video of my car it has been running witout the rear wing long before 9FF.. LOL
My car is 100% right now... finally after 3 years..... mostly due to Bobby's hardcore experience...
I have bigger and better plans....
for now, the 9ff is faster then mine in 1/4... mind you Im up against a company that makes cars go fast for a living.... but all that will change very soon.
markski
ps. I have a feeling that others are having a hard time doing fast 60 to 130s... its all in the details... and unless you can wrench on ur own and make minor adjustmenst you will have a hell of a time doing it....

that's the point! Afaik in germany there is only one prepped (not even really glued) drag strip that only opens 1 or 2 times a year during hockenheim's so called nitrolympics.
With better traction, faster shifting the car will do a time beginning with 8!

Chad,
I am pretty sure Scott sent his car back to make more power and Prtomotive put on GT35R's and the car made 890rwhp @1.6 bar up from 830 @1.4bar.

P.S. not making fun of anyone just find the examples funny!
Craig,
In the 80's I was an ordained Minister for the Church of Sub-Genious.
My saying was "Jesus gives you love, Bob (the C of SG's version of God) gives you slack." "I was in jail one night and Bob's bails bonds got me out, Bobs auto repair fixed my car, and Bob's burgers fed me...I worship Bob."
But back to Robs car: Rob has Gt35's (as did the final iteration of Scotts car) but he had the 3.8, head work and special cams...I heard from several sources here in Houston that they were "Nascar cams" (no idea what that means) but the combination should add up to 120 more hp.

I have probably the most powerful 996 3.8 turbo? I have 6000 miles on this motor without any problems! NO PROBLEMS! My car is tuned by Protomotive and built by Noble Performance (Akram) here in the Rocket City. You can PM if you like...
Happy Holidays
Robert
You sure about that DR.J?I am pretty sure thatRob's car is potentially very fast, maybe the fastest 996tt yet,but it is easier said than done.Remember when someone said they had a 9 sec pass when nobody had ever seen a 996TT go 9's?Well we are still wating to see that pass.
"I have probably the most powerful 996 3.8 turbo?"
Come on, Joe, that is hardly bragging. I will take Rob to task for refusing to go after 60-130 times (and he was at the track w/ me the other day
) but being a pompous boster, no.
He does, however, double dip his tortilla chips (not making this up) which is rather disturbing behavior for someone who went to med school.

That was in response to post asking about building 3.8 liter motors??? People continue to say it can not be done when in fact it has been done and it is a daily driver. I just drove it tonight to pick up some diet cokes via Mexico :-) I was not saying that I have the most powerful turbo but I probably have the most powerful 3.8 turbo? The reason I posted about the power was to let the person know you can build a 3.8 liter and have power at the same time. If he wanted exact details he could PM for greater insight on little bluey. Additionaly, the news about how much power I made was already on 6speed and it was not released by me, Akram or Todd. Is it really that important? If it is you can write to Todd or Akram about the details of my build? I think there are many aspects of my build they would like to keep quiet?
Peace
Robert

Dr J,what is disturbing is not Rob Double dippin but that he doesn't have a copy of his own dyno.LOL
