Protomotive k24/18g upgrade
Protomotive k24/18g upgrade
has anyone ever gone from a K24 Evo type setup or FVD K24 setup to a Protomotive K24/18g setup ? if so, is it worth doing ? is their much of a noticable differance ?
thx
thx
There is a significant difference between the stock K24 turbos and a K24/18G hybrid. With the 18G exhaust side opened up more, you will flow a larger volume of air to increase your mid to top end power. You will have the same low end spool as you do now with the K24's.
Well if you already have K24 turbos, you can send in your stock ones and I think it costs you maybe $1400. If your current software tuner can tune them, then you probably spend maybe $2500.
the i am currently making around 480 rwhp. from what i hear, i will make about 525 rwhp after the upgrade. im just not sure if i will notice the difference for the exta investment. it would be an easy pill to swallow if i had a stock X50 car, but mine has already been tuned.

Did you actually dyno your car? You say "rwhp" as in rear wheel. Are you rear wheel drive? If so, you could be in the 550-560 wheel HP range with 18G's. If you AWD, you will likely be in the 510-530AWHP range. And it's not just HP, it's the torque and how soon you make it and how long it hangs around. It's all about the area "under the curve". Use the search button and look at dyno sheets showing comparisons, they're here...

Dan,
Isn't that how and why we all upgrade? We get our a** kicked on the highway and immediate call our tuner on the cell and order new turbos

Seriously 911, go for a ride in a 18G car or race one, you will be a believer.
As far as number and dyno's. use SEARCH button up above...
Can anyone tell him what a 60-130 is for a flashed K24 car? Most of us know what a tuned 18G car runs...
Commercial break. 911stripper, I did your homework for you...
