changed alignment settings...vast improvement

Guys,

I have the same Moton/ERP/GT-3 bar suspension that Ken installed on his car. I have been chasing some push in fast sweepers after I get back on the gas hard.

I have been running roughly 1 degree neg. camber in the front and a very small amount of toe-in. Yesterday I had the car realigned to 1.5 degrees neg. camber in the front (the most that the stock adjustment slots would allow) and zero toe. Woe...what a difference. I have not had the opportunity to drive it for any distance in real anger, but it feels much more neutral now.

BTW, the other alignment specs I have are 1.8 degrees neg. camber and 0.36 total toe in the rear. I am running 1 degree of rake as well. The Club Sports are set to 3 bump and 4 rebound and the bars are full stiff in the rear and one hole from full stiff in the front.

That was the most testosterone fueled comment I've ever heard. Nice!

Glad it's coming together...

Mike,

And thanks for all your help on putting this together. You are great to work with and I would recommend your shop to anyone.

Thanks for sharing. It's good to hear about something technical instead of someone's new wheels.

Great hearing that, I'm taking my car in, hopefully, this week for the same alignment settings. Couldn't do it last tuesday because something came up. Thanx for the info John.

Update...the only thing that I have noticed that is not absolutely positive with this setup (and is to be expected) is a very slight dartyness under heavy braking. No big deal...just have to be awake :-))

Is dartyness a word???

If you have zero static toe, then you would probably have
a little induced toe-out under braking, but not much. Toe-out
does cause a little dartiness, and having more negative
camber will lessen your maximum braking a bit because your
tires are less flat on the ground.... Tradeoffs, tradeoffs. We will
have to wait for active suspension to get the best of both...

Joe, yes...I agree. However I do not think I have much toe-out under braking ( as you noted) as I have removed the rubber donuts from the control arm connections. I am sure that these are what cause most of the toe change under braking and acceleration. If I wind up being bothered by the slight movement under braking, I will just dial in a little static toe-in...but I would like to avoid it as I think that is the cause of some of the push.

Interestingly, Mr. Lieb from Ruf sent me an email a number of months ago in answer to my request for a solution for the push while I still had the Ruf PSS-9 suspension on the car. His specs called for the same 1.5 degrees neg. camber and zero toe in the front. And that was with the rubber donut still in the car.

As an aside, today I softened the Club Sports from 3 bump and 4 rebound to 2 bump and 3 rebound all around. Have not had the opportunity to check things out much...they frown on that during rush hour up here

Enjoy! Cornering rules. Going fast is like running; cornering
is like dancing.
