Easy way to RWD temp only

A group of guys have a dyno day going and I kinda want to go for kicks. Draw back its only rwd/fwd dyno not a AWD dyno. I want to see if my A/F are fine, that is my only concern since i have a flash. Is there a temp easy way to make the car RWD only. Disconnect front drive shaft and thats it ? I probably won't drive it more then 30 miles this way. If so, is there a DIY ?
Also how long does the process take it off/put it on ?

Thanks,

Enrique

Im interested in the answer to this too. Sounds like you only need to pull the driveshaft from what Ive read, but waiting for those who have BTDT.

Just remove the front to back drive shaft. You can run like that with no issues. I ran that way for over a month.

Tangential question: Does anyone know what the AWD diff. is rated at being able to handle max. HP/torque-wise on the 996TT? For high HP/torque upgrades, any physical limitations to the AWD diff. above the 800HP/lb-ft level?

Certainly, drivetrain losses increase with the AWD functioning, but with 800+HP, that should counteract some of those losses. The remaining question is would the diff. malfunction transferring some of that higher power and torque to the front wheels?

The 996tt front differencial is weak to say the least. Thedy are far less beefy than the 993tt front differencial. However, very little of the power is actually transfered to the front wheels. Less than 10%. I believe they are rated for about fifty foot pounds of torque.

The center diff is viscous I think. Im not sure it has an inherent limit other then getting too hot. The fluid is whats doing all the work?

Yep, remove drive shaft. You will need to remove the under trays first, then 3 bolts to unscrew. When you place it on the dyno make sure to put PSM off mode. Good luck. Hope you see a good AFR.

When you remove the driveshaft, do you have to cover up where the driveshaft connects to the tranny so it doesn't get dirty?

LOL, Steve, your time estimates are a trip. Didn't you say like 30 or 45 minutes to change plugs? It may take 4-5 minutes to actually get the driveshaft out, but jacking it up, puttin on jack stands or lift, removing all the lower paneling, removing the metal bracket in the middle and then the driveshaft bolts and getting it out takes a bit longer than 4-5 minutes.
