Quote: Hopefully, once it is back on the dyno, you can replicate it and pinpoint the trouble.

Sounds easy, but my confidence level is plumetting by the minute.

I wonder if it happens if tony tunes for race gas (ms109) with NO meth on.

Have never done that with my car? What do you mean?

Mike, sorry to hear your issues, hope its not something serious. I have the same question, Does it still pop with 100% race gas and no meth? This might require a different tune. Also if you saw 1.5 bar on the dash gauge it might be 1.3 bar, i read and heard that dash reads high.

Most of us here are running 1.1 to 1.3 bar tunes with race gas.

I find my stock gauge is fairly accurate. I run a Greddy along side and often compare the two. They are usually about the same, I think the OEM gauge either rounds up or down. For instance 1.24 would read 1.2 and 1.28 would read 1.3 - the Greddy reads two decimal points and displays a more accurate number.

No race gas. My car is tuned on pump/meth only, no other "files". My timing is still VERY conservative considering. I posted a thread a while back about my pump/meth vs race gas experiment. Basically a 20whp difference. I'll stick to pump. My gauge does seem to read a little high, so I don't freak out when I see a little higher than normal number. It just happen to be REALLY cool out and I've NEVER seen it HOLD 1.5bar.

I had a popcorn popping sound under boost years ago with my 993. Changed the plugs and DV's and it went away. FWIW.

there are many cars that are running 1.1 to 1.3 bar on pump gas. So if properly tuned with meth/pump, that was not the problem, however an instantly lean condition during WOT might have been. Like a bad fuel pump, obstructed fuel line, injector, filter, or similar meth system problems. Hopefully it is just a quirk and nothing serious.

Currently on the dyno with....

No lean condition, no knock, no misfire, no lifted heads, no noise.... If I didn't hear the pop'ing last week, I would thing Mike was telling jokes.

Good news, but I still dont like when things "fix themselves".

More testing in the AM!!

Thanks Tony...

...and as an adder, this past weekend, I also did a boost-leak test and tested the DV's....all is good.
