Great work Tony and Dave @ EPL. Amazing results.
I love how some justify to themselves their very expensive motor build when others put out huge numbers without it. And yeah yeah yeah it is piece of mind and all that, but we all know how expensive it is to R&R and build the internals with upgrades. If you don't necessarily need it, why do it?
I keep seeing people reference the old Supra convention wisdom with regard to how much the stock motor can handle.... look where they are now. And look where the 996TT seems to be heading.... hmmmm...

I have sa stock motor and I am limiting myself to what my tuner feels is the max power the motor can handle, which is no where near this amount of power. Can I go up to that. Yes, easily, but do I want to bend rods? no. If I can eventually do an engine build then I will go for bigger power, but until then I'd rather be safe.

just because you can, doesn't mean you should. I think a setup like this is pushing it on stock internals. There is no doubt that this kind of power will shorten the lifespan of these motors. You don't believe it? talk to tuners that have built engines, talk to Evoms, UMW, Proto. I am sure they have learned how much power these stock motors can take before they let go. It's one thing be a tuner, but it's a whole other thing to be a tuner and engine builder and you see what to much power does to an engine.

nope..not the only ones. but you can talk to him directly. But those two that you are talking about were completely designed by him
rods, pistons, heads and all. just assembled by someone else. he knows engines.

No! Seriously, I know Kevins and Toms Stage 4 cars were down forever. I saw the threads with all the great pictures and some progress. But then nothing and finally I hear they are going to EVOMS?
I don't know the story behind the MW builds, but I would like to. Care to enlighten me Kevin/Tom.

What happened with UMW has nothing to do with this thread...
It was something that took to long & never materialized....Kevin & I moved on. case closed.

I know it has nothing to do with this thread. Earlier in this thread there was a discussion about limits of stock motors and talking to engine builders/tuner. UMW was mentioned. Without knowing if he is really a tuner/engine builder, people should not be using him as a source to get teh answer to that question. At this point, I see that EVOMS and Proto as the known tuners/engine builders.
