Unhappy Ran over deer

Last night, at 70 mph, I ran over a dead deer carcass ( had no choice )
My wife said to me : "you are not going to stop ? " I said no....I'm afraid to see the front of the car (GT2). Thirty minutes later I stopped at my destination and there was NO damage or evidence at the front of the car. I got a flashlight and looked underneath.....and was shocked to see all the parts of a dead animal scattered. The only damage I had was a dust cover or something of hard plastic at the right rear inside wheel. It was 10-12 inches long and 6-8 inches wide....I am not sure what it is called, but I had to break about 3-4 inches off cause it was dragging on the ground....and now hangs loose. Anyone know what this piece is called? Any help or comments would be appreciated.

Sounds like a brake deflector? A piece of plastic that mounts low and deflects air towathe brakes I believe. I would get it up in the air and look closer though just in case there's other damage you cannot see. you also do not want anything that might have gotten stuck somewhere rotting

Thank goodness you and your wife weren't hurt. In Wisconsin, deer that have been struck by other vehicles aren't always removed immediately, and cause numerous automotive injuries.

Can you take a photograph? It would probably help.

Also, check Porsche's website for a parts catalog...you'll be able to figure out what you need, and probably order it online, rather than paying your stealership for the repair.

Here's the site:

same thing happend to me in my lowered vw, no damage at all...except i spent forever trying to clean a rib that was stuck in between my exhaust hanger....it cooked the meat pretty well with a foul smell every time u push the car, worst experience ever.

Yea, I had this happen about 2 months after I bought mine... I had dead dear pieces stuck to the motor case, but no othe revidence of issues...

It is either your rear brake duct or you have a piece of the undertray at the rear (just in front of the CV axle) broken.

+1!

I'm amazed that's all it did for damage. The thought of hitting a deer with the low GT2 bumper/front lip on my Turbo makes me cringe.

should be glad that is the only damage you received. A buddy of mine hit a deer on his motorcycle and spent a week in the hospital. GL with cleaning the deer remains!

Don't feel too bad, my buddy hit a bird that went throught his helmet face shield on a bike at 150hpm. They spent a week picking bird bones out of his face. As for forrest rats (deer), don't hit them head on, turn a corner to them and they usually bonce over the top at an angle and don't come through your windshield.
