2005 porsche tt or nissan gt-r
The prices of the G is very tempting now...the F430 is at least 30-40 K more used these days. For the money G is probably the most fun car anyone can buy now.

Nissan, or I guess to be politically correct Datsun, created one of the greatest sports cars of all time. The 280Z had more soul that most cars on the road today. I mean Lamborghini started as a tractor company and evolved to where it is today so I discrediting their history of creating cars with soul is to completely ignore their past. For anyone who hasn't driven one please find one to drive. Not a dealership test drive with big brother watching but a real 20 plus mile drive where you can put the car through a variety of tests. No it isn't a Porsche but it is extremely impressive for what it is.
You sir are correct However I never said the 240 was the first car in the series or anything of that nature merely that it was their first "iconic" sportscar. In fact, I was going to reference the Fairlady cars to get really old school but wasn't sure if that would even register with most.
My 13 year old son would take the GTR because its an icon in video games...Gamers will side with GTR in a min..... Playstation made the GTR... In the end it doesn't do anything for me.. it's impressive, but that's about it.

What's a Datsun...? lol

but honestly I feel the 05 is more like comparing apples to apples both in price and performance.
Yep, kinda looks like one of my 6yr olds transformer toys too.
It'll never be an icon.
At the dealership I just bought my 996TT at, they had a GTR so I asked them if I could take it for a ride. It's a damn nice car, but as other people have said, I could never pull the trigger on the R-35 because there's no clutch pedal. Too many cars now are strictly dual clutch automatics (cough, *ferrari*) and that robs the driving experience for me. Is it a fast car... oh hell yes. Nice interior, the display setup/monitor is fantastic (designed by the Gran Turismo video game designers), and super simple to drive fast... just mash it and steer. The fact I don't have to shift it ruins it for me. I'd say drive them both and see what tickles your pickle. For me, it's the 911 everytime.
I had a 03 996TT and sold it thinking i wanted a GTR. I had the GTR for 9 months and was bored. It's not that fun to drive once the newness wears off. If you want a "fun" GTR, send it to T1 for 1000HP kit.
I sold the GTR and bought a 01 996TT and modded it for 600+HP and i am very happy with the car and i always look forward to driving it.

Wow. This was an old thread. I guess, good for you for using an existing one, rather than creating a new one...
How did we miss these gems?:
Didn't know Playstation existed back in the '80s. Playstation (and other gaming consoles) made the GT-R ACCESSIBLE. The reason it became so popular, is because gaming consoles showed the rest of the world what so many already knew - the Skyline GT-R was an impressive car. It was already legendary by the time it hit video games back in the early-mid 90's.
lol! My how times change.

If anyone has a GT-R with 25-30k I'll happily give you 25-30k for it! Lol! :-)
gtr
Everyone on here will tell you to get the Porsche and everyone on the Nissan forum will tell you to get the GTR. Service costs were one of things that turned me away from the GTR. I also prefer to have a clutch pedal. They are both incredible cars though, you can't go wrong either way. Out of the box the GTR will be way faster. Can you really get them for 65k these days?
