Cayenne GTS - MY BROTHER HAS ONE...GREAT TRUCK, P-CAR EXCLUSIVITY, LOOKS DAMN GOOD...BUT IT'S F'IN SLOW AS ****.
Cayenne Turbo S - PRICEY, SISTER HAD ONE, HAD LOTS OF SMALL ISSUES...IF YOU ARE WILLING TO DEAL WITH LITTLE NAGGING ISSUES, THEN IT'S WORTH IT FOR THE COMFORT, SIZE AND POWER/SPEED.
GT-R - YOU KNOW I LOVED MY GTR, IT'S A SICK DAILY, BUT, IT'S NOT FOR A FAMILY OF 4...NO ONE WILL FIT COMFORTABLY IN BACK.
E9X M3 - LOVE THIS CAR, ESPECIALLY WITH THE DCT...PROBLEM IS THAT THE BACK IS "SLIGHTLY" CRAMPED. HOWEVER, GREAT CAR, CAN'T REALLY GO WRONG. IF THERE IS A NEGATIVE, IT WOULD BE THAT YOU HAVE THE REV THE CRAP OUT OF IT TO GET ANY POWER AND IT MAKES NO TQ.
E60 M5 - GREAT CAR, TRANSMISSION IS A POS AS COMPARED TO THE M3 DCT, ISF, GTR......I ALMOST BOUGHT ONE FROM SW BUT THE TRANNY, EVEN IN THE FASTEST SHIFTING MODE, WAS SLOW AS SIN TO SHIFT. I COULD NOT STAND IT. NOT TO MENTION, WITH THE NEW BODY STYLE COMING, THIS STYLE WILL DEPRECIATE GREATLY SOON.
M6 - SEE ABOVE COMMENTS ON TRANNY...HOWEVER, YOU CAN STEAL THESE NOW, THEY HAVE LOST TONS OF VALUE AND SEARCHING EBAY MOTORS ALONE YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO PICK A CLEAN M6 WITH LOW MILES OFF FOR ABOUT $40K...
C63 - SICK CAR...GOBS OF TQ (WHAT THE M3 IS MISSING) BUT THEN YOU GET THE DREADED M-CAR RELIABILITY FACTOR. YOU MIGHT HAVE IT FOR 100K MILES WITH NO ISSUES, IT MIGHT LIVE AT THE DEALER. BACK SEAT IS A BIT CRAMPED FOR LONG HAULS...
Audi S5 - NEAT CAR, LOOKS SEXY, BUT WITH YOUR OTHER OPTIONS, I WOULDN'T CONSIDER IT MYSELF.
HOW ABOUT A CTS-V???? NOT SURE ABOUT THE RELIABILITY FACTOR BUT THAT IS THE BADDEST 4-DOOR ON THE PLANET.

little extra room, towing capacity, long rode comfort, try the 08 CTT, has the larger engine, nicer upgrades, found a few mid to upper sixties. Very safe secure feel driving to, a friend came down couple days and i let her drive it, she said it felt like it was on rails, on the highway these left lane hogs who like to play game trapping you in you can blast past them like there sitting still, and she owned an M5?
I was in a similar spot as you. I actually started out wanting a newer M3, but after sitting in one in the back it was a little cramped. I finally chose the E60M5. It only weighs a few hundred pounds more than the M3 and has 85 hp more. And even though I am not allowed to mod the car (wife), if in the future we decide to get another vehicle, I can then turn it into a twin turbo 5.7L V10 monster that will annihilate the mile
oh and with straight pipes it sounds like an F1 car.

Also have to agree with Peter, the CTS-V is a bad boy, but like I said you already have a GT2 for fast mode. I love getting into my Lexus 460 and putting it in drive & relaxing in comfort & style. With the drivers seat set for me (6'2" 240 lbs) there is plenty of room for a 6'2" passenger in the back with 6" from their knees to the back of the drivers seat.

because it has little room. I was shocked at how little room it actually has. The M5 has more. Now the X5M might be different story
RS6 is the answer
There is absolutely no point of a RR Sport - In the UK it makes me laugh when people drive around in RR Sport, and then don't understand why the f4&^ they don't work in the snow or off road Looks at the wheels! Also it seems that in the instruction manual all RR drivers are told to drive only in the fast lane and hold up traffic!
Have you thought about an Audi RS6? Perfect and very fast - you can do a simple chip on this and have 680bhp instead of 580bhp.

Just a comment about the M5. I thought the exact same thing you did. It shifts slow. Until I figured out the settings and once I did, it shifts so fast that it chirps the tires all the way through 3 gear shifts. It is not slow shifting by any means. I actually lost a race because I did not have it in that mode.
try to find a dealer with a jeep srt8 and if you drive it , you will surely buy it. i am on my second one and this is the only practical vehicle for me. the RR sport does 0-60 in over 7 seconds...the jeep srt8 0-60 in 4.5 bone stock !!!
there are plenty of easy and inexpensive mods from flash's to superchargers.
for about $1500 you can get it into the 11's and still be reliable.

Love the look and sound of the GTS. But IMHO... the Turbo is the way to go. You will look back one day an wish you had bought a turbo/turbo S .... We all know you love speed Scott....
BTW... my brother has a E63 and that car is SICK! If you haven't looked at one already you should definately put it on your list. That or a E55....

Okay, GTS is off the list. That leaves the CTT or 'S'.
Have had both the Cayenne Turbo S and E60M5, E90 M3 and GTR and can tell you that they are all very good long distance cars. Yes, the GTR's rear seat room is limited but roomier than one would think for kids-plus it's got performance galore(4k in mild ecu/ exhaust mods provides 550whp/tq.-on pump fuel). Cayenne would be the most practical combo hauler/open road ride-plus off road capable. GTR would be the best performer. M5 is a larger version of the M3 with great open road performance. All are heavy but the GTR hides it best. E90 M3 is a smaller, more tossable version of the M5 and very practical DD-I still have my M3 but had the Cayenne Turbo for the most miles(had no problems in over 45k). Just depends on what you need.

Thanks. I'm pleasantry surprised how many people are saying the GT-R might be a possibility.
Also, good all on the 55 cars. Never considered those.

Ended up with an E93 DCT, Love the car! My kids still fit in the back & can drop the top when the weather is nice.
