Help with next vehicle purchase
Pretty much identical size as a E90 M3, right?
Peter,
Great info. Very useful post. I'l look into the CTS-V. Haven't been a fan of the looks, but I'll take another look at it.
Thanks!

Also have to agree with Peter, the CTS-V is a bad boy, but like I said you already have a GT2 for fast mode. I love getting into my Lexus 460 and putting it in drive & relaxing in comfort & style. With the drivers seat set for me (6'2" 240 lbs) there is plenty of room for a 6'2" passenger in the back with 6" from their knees to the back of the drivers seat.
Pualie,
I actually had to Google the LS 460 to see what it was. That is a BIG car! It looks very luxurious, though. I may have to stop at my local Lexus dealer to check it out.
The X5M would be a definite front-runner...if it was in my price range ($65k or less).
E55/E63.
If you want the ultimate in power and family versatility, go for an E55 or E63 wagon. I have an E55 wagon (I prefer the 55 to the 63 as the mods are amazing).
7 passenger
Low 12 quarter mile (11s with minor mods)
What more could you look for. Off the line, our E55 wagon has more punch than the 996TT. 516ftlb torque.
Stock.
Top 5 are in the 10's:

Mod potential is simply amazing. Fanatical forum, much like this

Scott,
I'm shopping for a daily driver and have all the same cars on my list as you do - minus the S5 (way too slow) and the Cayenne (had the VW).
Not sure how big your kids are, but mine (9 and 6) fit in the back of my GTR fine for less than 1 hr trips. If I had left it alone, IMO, the best daily you can drive - comfortable, quick, etc. Since you have the GT2, not sure I'd get a GTR as you'll be too tempted to mod it and make it faster than the GT2.
For longer hw trips and cell conversations, I'd get the E63 or maybe M5. Pristine 08 M5's are hard to find - I've been looking for awhile. Same with 06 E55's - hard to find any without stories.
I'm leaning towards an E63 - mainly so I can't mod it.
Good luck!

I vote E55. The thing I didn't like in my very short test drive was the super tall gearing. I believe they have a 996 tranny BTW. But given pricing these days, and what a pulley can do for you, plus the fact that it's a real sedan with legroom etc...

An E63 or M5 being NA will have less temptation to mod it, which is what I wanted. I picked the M5 because of the motor. same power as E63 using a 1.3 liter smaller motor that hits 8500 rpm. That is carreraGT territory and the motor sounds just like a CGT motor when the factory exhaust is changed.
E55's can be modded to be fast, no doubt. But if one beat a modded 997turbo, it had to be driver or exhaust only mod. I have a buddy with an E55 that has tuning, huge IC and 15 psi pulley, and the walking I gave him on my 91 octane file was so bad it wasn't even funny. He got the jump, he started 2 car lengths in front of me, we started off at 60 and by the top of 4th I had passed him and put easily 3-4 car lengths on him. So in the grand scheme of things the acceleration is not a big deal compared to our cars.
