Tune Questions: Greddy Settings, etc
Tune Questions: Greddy Settings, etc
So I have a protomotive 24/18 car. Todd K. is helping me out and re-tuning for 104 Octane Fuel, etc. It has really woken the car up. It was very conservatively tuned with no timing before. I am a total beginner and just want some second opinions.
I have struggled getting up to the desired 1.2 bar boost. Been playing around. 1 observation. My dash boost reading shows .1 - .2 higher than datalogs thru Durametric show. Is this common?
Greddy Profec B. Here is where I am now. I've studied on here and haven't seen many people having to go as I am to get the desired boost. I am concerned, but do I need to be. These are the settings and what I achieved:
Set 58%
Gain 35%
Set gain .9 bar
Overboost 1.3
Overboost ret 10%
Last boost val.
Last boost ON
Max boost reached 1.0 bar
So it looks like I will need above 60% initial set to achieve 1.2 bars. I will lower the Gain quite a bit, but boost wasn't max until quite high in the RPM range at setting of about 18%.
Thoughts: Im just nervous that 60% initial setting is so high.

seems that the 58% is a bit high but then again... its hot where you are so that makes a big diff , i have to raise mine considerably when the weather jumps from 70 to 95 ..
an ya the dash gauge isnt the most accurate.
an ya the dash gauge isnt the most accurate.
58% is a little high, I am at 38% @1.25 bar WOT. I have a lot of supporting mods with the k24/18gs however.
Have you adjusted your wastegates and done a boost leak test?
For that matter who installed the greddy, was it connected correctly?
The dash is slow and inaccurate for boost. Use the greddy or datalogging.

I would start at 1 bar and work your way up. These were my settings on Greddy Profec, K24/18G... from there, just turn it up slightly as you go.
1 bar
35% main setting
10% gain
0.6 bar set gain
1.2 bar overboost
10% overboost return
ON Last boost
1 bar
35% main setting
10% gain
0.6 bar set gain
1.2 bar overboost
10% overboost return
ON Last boost
Oh, and at 5500' altitude, and ran last datalog at about 82 degrees F. I know Greddy is installed correctly, and no leaks. Unless something changed in last couple months, which is a possibility. Don't think so though.
So the issue is you are only getting 1 bar of boost, max?
After checking codes i would go in this order:
1) is your tune set for an EBC?
2) greddy set up physically properly?
3) Wastegate adjustment, do you have upgraded 1 bar wastegates?
3) boost leak . . .
What other mods do you have? like injectors FPR ect.

So the issue is you are only getting 1 bar of boost, max? I can get 1.1 bar, and think I can achieve 1.2 bar, but 1.1 takes 60% initial setting or so.
After checking codes i would go in this order: No codes.
1) is your tune set for an EBC? Yes
2) greddy set up physically properly? Questionable, but Im positive. It was setup before I got the car and Im confident it was correct.
3) Wastegate adjustment, do you have upgraded 1 bar wastegates? yes
3) boost leak . . . may need to check. It was good when purchased 500 miles ago.
What other mods do you have? like injectors FPR ect.

well im sure the altidude and weather have something to do with it.. i would email todd k and ask him he will give you exactly whats up.
btw i would scrap those gt2 intercoolers they are junk especially beeing in a hot enviroment i would upgrade to some beefy ones.

You should have no problems maintaining whatever boost your tune is set for with those mods. You should have the opposite problem, keeping the boost down
Were your wastegate actuators set for your current altitude? I would start with a boost leak test @ the intake, then re adjust your wastegates. Big boost leaks usually code tho . .

fwiw i blew a hose off my drivers intercooler output on my way home yesterday . . . it happens....

1 bar WG are 0.8 bar. So you have 58% = 1.264 bar.
But you have gain set to 35% - way too high - it should be between 5% to 10% - this allows the boost to be consistent, so that you do not see a drop off. So with 35% what is happenning is that you are probably spiking. If that is the case, then you will trip the 1.3 bar limit, and it will reduce 10%, so back to 1.17.
Your set gain is a little high = set that to 0.8bar.
Run this and see what you get. The simple way is to run without set gain or gain, with the 58% and see what your maximum bar is.
I run two modes on my car (k24/20g)

This gives around 1.2 bar.
HI

The latter normal gives me a consistent 1.4 bar.

I just want to know where or HOW you got that decal! I have been bugging Tod and Cynthis for three year 4 that very same script logo..Nada. Zip. Zilch!
Assuming the car is okay I just think your settings are wrong.
