997SSK Short Shifter advice?

Hi - I recently had an OEM 997SSK short shifter installed after reading all the views here on the forum that it was generally viewed as better than some of the alternatives. What I'm finding though is that between 1st and 2nd gear in particular it's notchy, can really get stuck between the gears - not the "butter smooth" that I've read about. I'm assuming this might be as a result of how it was installed/adjusted? Just feels "off" to me when switching between the lower gears. 3rd to 4th is better and 4th to 5th is relatively smoother, etc.
Any suggestions?
thanks!

Pull the center console off and readjust the shifter. If they did not mark the shifter cables when they pulled them out there is a chance that they were not set properly which can cause shift issue, as well as not being able to get into reverse.

Thank you both. Sounds like an adjustment issue. Had a dealer install it, and my impression was this was the first time they had done a 997SSK in a 996.... to answer some of the above questions implied by the other link -- (1) getting into reverse is okay, but requires a little play with the shifter before it will take, (2) never pops out of 2nd gear, (3) just sticky getting into first, (4) moving from 1st to 2nd I feel like I'm doing 2 discrete shifts in a straight line - the initial move to neutral where I hit a block, and then a fairly smooth move to 2nd gear, and (5) a generally "thick" or "heavy" feeling moving around relative to the stock shifter. Overall, everything works, but all the benefits of short shifting more than lost/given up by the bump I hit while passing neutral and the thick feel (would prefer a looser feeling obviously for fast shifting)

I will try to go back to them and have them re-adjust this weekend.

Things you are describing are definetly an adjustment issue. Tell them to take the center console off, adjust cables and make sure it shifts properly into every gear including reverse before reassembling.
