UMW Customer.. let the fun begin
UMW Customer.. let the fun begin
Everyone here seems to be talking about big *** turbos.. new technology. Well.. I'm taking a different approach and sticking to the old stuff. Kevin at UMW is literally based out of my backyard. Being so close, it made sense to move forwards w/ him.
*Markski.. thanks for the PMs.. Your a great dude. I considered pulling the trigger w/ you, but stayed local. Appreciate your answers to my questions!
*No longer getting the k16/26.. upgraded to his bad boy Stage 2A - K16/997GT2... Yahhttzzziiieeee!!
I ended up purchasing his k16/26 package. Older technology.. but still produces great power numbers! I drive and play on the street, torque is important to me. This kit should deliver some VERY FUN results.
I'll update more as the time comes. But as of now, its paid and in the works
I know there are other UMW guys out there.. any idea what to expect?

Kevin is very knowledgeable. I have several bits from him and seek his advice on most things. He also tries hard to educate you on the complexities we all face. His turbo knowledge is superior. He also knows how to get the most out of our cars. His suggestions are spot on. He does everything at safe levels. he doesn't want any customer with a kaboom. To be completely honest though, he is not good at estimating the time it takes to accomplish things (always longer than expected). If you just accept that from the beginning, you'll be much happier. He is happy to take a phone call almost any time and share is wealth of knowledge; it pretty damn deep.
I still love my UMW X50 tune. I bought the exhaust he recommend and don't regret spending the extra $'s. I have his ECU tune, UMW Waste Gate Actuator Kit, he did my plugs, and suggested a GT2 clutch and LWFW. All these things took about 65% of the lag out of the K24s, and I have a great engine sound at both WOT and off throttle gurgle.
Everyone at the track is always amazed at how much torque I have. I pull away from most everyone when I have any kind of straight in front of me. I've yet to do the suspension/tires.

He's like the dude who is really good friends with the hot chick, and is always there for her when she calls crying in the middle of the night. And then she goes and bangs the quarterback.

That was funny though ^^ shoot..
I've used Kevin and he is at least 1000 miles away. Same opinion, but I have never had a wait. My exhaust is Switzer though...I have stock turbos as for me, DE stuff mostly, they are plenty.
LWFW, clutch, diverters, advice, etc., it has all been spot on. I feel my car will run well for another 150k miles...I have 40k miles on his stuff and no issues. I'd like to get a set of his gt2 blade zc turbos one day...that would rock.
I see Markski as king of the super high HP option set...... He knows a ton and is super nice. Saying one is great in no way makes the other less great. That is important to say. I think of him, EVOms, Protomotive, and Switzer in that realm. All of those are above my league so I just read the threads here and learn things.
I am more a track/suspension/tire/shifter/aero guy. It is what I can afford.

Nice Bojan...I'm sure you're going to have some fun with Kevin's expertise. I haven't used him for anything since I've only pursued maintenance and light mods since purchasing my own 996TT, but I've pretty much only heard great stuff and the fact that he's in our backyard is definitely a priority point. Best wishes!
I just received the stage 2a UMW K16 Zero Clearance Hybrid turbos last week. Man that is a mouth full.
