what should I expect

Dear Members,
I'm new to the porsche world, how ever not new to racing cars and track racing, I've been humbly around the block few times..

Her is my project..

I have a 996TT engine, to be more precis I have a 996 TT block.
and I have a full GT2 2004 with a very bad accident that made it loose the full face.

Both are bought from friends non of the accident are by me :-).

it goes like this...

TT engine with GT2 completing it (fuel pump, injectors, turbos, intercoolers, ecu....)

the extras that i have are a 9ff clutch, and a 9ff turbos I have no idea what r the sizes, and a sport exhaust that was on the GT2 i don't know whats the brand but knowing how much it costed the guy when he bought says its a good one 4,500$.

I dont think I will have the 9ff turbos on the car just because i think it will be too much of a lag and too much for a street car, but i will put the clutch because its light weight and handles more power.

the car will be rear wheel drive because we will install the GT2 gearbox on.

can any one estimate what such a set up with a good tune should put on the wheel please.

thanks a lot

so you have a 996tt and your going to put the 2004 gt2 parts into this car?

post some photos of the turbos they may be great the clutch also and we can see about helping out with questions.

but so far you have a gt2 motor with exhaust, clutch, and tune for turbos your not going to use. so you have basically a stock gt2 motor.

everything should bolt right up if you have all the goodies.

hmmm sorry if i got you lost a bit, the shell that i want to install all of this on is a 966 TT
the engin is a 966 TT but all what goes on the engine is a GT2 clutch, turbos and so on and so for.

but it should be fine, I know that.. what i wanted your expertise in, is what kind of power should i expect to put down with a GT2 set up, with exhaust and a tune.

Ill post pics of the clutch and the after market turbos soon.

thanks again for replying and sorry if i got u mixed up.

if you have stock 996gt2 turbos they are K24's you can send them off to get an 18g wheel inserted for a big boost in power over stock. for cheap 1200$ or so for both. you will need a new FPR at minimum but new injectors are recomended (500-800$) gt2 clutch is better then 996tt clutch but its nothing great...

now if you want to do a worthwhile mod while the motor is out install some new inlet pipes to the turbos and the 18g turbos couple fuel mods and you be lookin at 550whp tuned up and probably smokin that gt2 clutch

I'm even more lost...

You have a 996 motor and car, but GT2 clutch, turbos, and tune. BUT you will be using a 9ff clutch, turbos, and tune. BUT you don't know what said clutch, turbos, and tune are?

unterbergamotte, thank you a lot yes i think this is more likely is my project.

OS Inspector, I like the idea but i think i will do this once i have the car running with no problems just so i can detect a problem if it comes out before i start messing around.

NOLA911, I'm sorry man I'm lost my self lol, let make it easy i have 2 of every thing for a GT2 and a 9ff. the 9ff is a working running fine car and the GT2 had a bad face accident but all the mechanics are fine. how ever I have a 966 TT engine so i will mixing and matching to get a nice combo that can give me a nice result.

The only thing the I dont have is a rolling shell, which i was thinking of nothing better than a 996, but today a friend said what about a boxster and now im re thinking the whole thing again.

if your going to mix n match parts your gonna need a custom tune for that setup and then to go andchange it again you'll pay an update fee from some places or a whole new tune to others.

set it up the way you want to run it and have it tuned that way.

Tune is not an issue for me, we have a crazy smart tuner over here who managed to run porsches on the HKS V-pro stand alone which is a japanese used stand alone ecu.

but the question is would things fit in a Boxster, there a very cheap 986 2002 model available and i dont want to miss that one.

Remember I have every thing but no shell and still deciding, but i have to do it fast.
