The screwdriver trick won’t work on the new style OEM hoses win ECU the tabs are solid. There is nothing to bend out, that only worked on the old hoses

Those new OEM hoses look much better. Nice to see Porsche taking action to correct the original poor design.

My hoses kept popping out at the start too. You really need to make sure the clip is perfectly aligned square in the groove otherwise you are not getting the correct support from the clip.
I also tried changing my lower boost hoses to new 997 turbo hoses but that failed as the hoses are a bit longer and a different shape so the extra angle on the hose kept creating further pop outs.

Everyone was right it was user error.
So pulled the hose out all the way was not clipped in at all and found this. Bottom was seated top was not .Pulled the bumper and seated the clips correclty. Ran it up and down the road full boost held like a champ.

Thanks again everyone. For this awesome thread

Btw Delta temps about 9deg F After pushing it hard .

Hi All,
I've just read through this read in it's entirety. It's one of the longer running threads, having started back in 2010 and still has sporaidc updates in 2018. It's been a voyage of discovery, high hope and mid-way disappointments.
  • What's the conclusion of these 997 GT2RS ICs ?
  • Have they proved to be a cost effective upgrade for mild tunes, say no more than 600 bhp at the crank ?
  • Has everyone that fitted these moved on to bigger and better B&P ICs ?

I can buy the OEM Denso 997 GT2RS ICs for about 620USD.

i think the general consensus is that they are a very good intercooler setup compared to the aftermarket setups. 600 horse power for these shouldn’t be a issue considering the gt2rs has 620 horsepower. I have a set of densos I picked up for $750 that will be going on th car. I can’t wait

I finally tracked down the pictures missing from earl3's duct modification post... Photo credit of course to Earl3, I am just reposting the lost images.

I've also noticed in scanning all the 'RS intercoolers in 996 Turbo' threads that I could find that there are a few different techniques for doing this, YMMV...

The write up is for getting the factory passenger side 996tt ducts on a passenger side 997.2 intercooler. The driver's side is the same process, but it’s a mirror image type thing. Having the intercooler in front of you while you’re doing this will help you understand the steps! If you have questions or something doesn’t make sense, just ask. This is one way to do it, other’s may see a better way.

Stuff you'll need:

-Dremel tool with a cutoff wheel & 120 grit sanding wheel
-Rivet gun (I used an Arrow RH-200 that’s like $15 at Lowe's)
-1/8" short rivets (I used Arrow RSS 1/8IP) –note, you could get by with zip ties here, but rivets seemed like a more robust option
-6"x18" 0.025" thickness Aluminum sheet metal (I used Steelworks Hillman #11232 from Lowe's)
-RTV sealant (gray or black preferred)
-Rubber Weather stripping (I used 2 packs of MD 01033 from Lowe's -you could use the RTV here in a pinch)
-Zip ties (I used GB 14" plastic cable ties from Lowe's)

I've assumed that as this point you've gotten the bumper removed, intercoolers off of the car and out of their frames (see Renntech.com spark plug DIY writeup for info here). Go ahead and release the metal duct straps & remove the ducts from your stock ICs. Give the ducts a GOOD cleaning.

Here we go:
