Almost no two cars are built and driven the same and thats why I like vendors who are more of consultants than salesmen. I tell them what direction I am going with the car and they tell me how to get there.
That is exactly what i mean. What i mean by buyer beware is a salesman sells. No matter how much consultation you get ultimately you can only hang so much on the salesman of said product. If you as a buyer do not understand your goals you are certainly setting yourself up for possible disappointment. Especially on a product which measurable gains are such a variable of conditions. Intercooler manufacturers always show the IAT in a 0-60 or 60-120 or other straight pull to full boost on a dyno. But they never show heat soak recovery. Or pressure drop to IAT in varying driving conditions. So when i say buyer beware i mean don't just buy based on what a manufacturer tells you. Do your homework. Trust a dealer, but keep in mind they are in it to make money as well. Know what you are getting.

If u track ur car, u dont need high hp. 550 hp to 600 is max. In these power regions the gt2RS intercoolers are the best bang for the bug.
If u go for high hp u probably will need different ones.

Oh I agree completely.

I do think though that the majority of vendors we have here are on the high end compared to what you would get with some other makes. That is in terms of quality and service. Ive seen reviews for almost all of them talking about how they will take calls to help troubleshoot or give service that they arent getting paid for.

Most of it is on the buyer though. Hell, just looking at the sigs of some of the vendors and you can tell what their focus is. I cant fault people for trying to make a living but I dont equate that to lying or trying to sham people.

Glad I saved this when I did mine a few months ago... Let me know if you need any clarification... One thing that I added when I did mine vs this instruction is I cut the factory intercooler duct clamps in half and riveted aluminum strips in the middle to extend the clamps rather than using zip ties.

Thanks. I figured the early steps were the rtv and holes. Then I figured 17 had something to do with cutting that duct around hose fitting.

You're a champ.

It's pretty easy to piece together what was missing and even easier once you are in there working on it. Good luck! Don't forget to pressure test your ICs if you haven't already, don't want to have to take them apart to re-seal the end tanks

Another alternative is to use stainless zip ties like these http://www.harborfreight.com/12-in-s...-pk-69413.html

Which front intercooler mount do you not use. The one towards motor or towards bumper?

Thanks. I upgraded to forge hoses too. I was looking at the end tanks between the standard 996 turbo and the .2rs intercoolers. Do you need different retaining clips for these. It seems that even after they snap into place I can jerk the hose out of the intercooler.

This is the 996 turbo part number. The few pictures I've seen of the ones that come with the intercoolers look different.

I think this is the part number I need. Took me a while to find it but I did.

You need to get those newer clips that are square in profile, not round like old ones.
