Question for all of you Cab owners. Does your top rattle or Squeak?
I have a 2004 996 TT X50 Cab. I have a rattle or squeaking noise right above my head on the driver’s side, on the inside of the top. If I push or apply pressure on the top with my hand, the noise goes away. What do you guys think it is? Have any of you guys experienced this? Thanks

I little noise here on my 04. I have only 9,000 miles as well but it is extremely minimal... not like you are describing. My concensus is that there must be a little movement and that is what I think I have.
Typically while entering driveways or gas stations on an angle with the flex.

I have a similar issue with mine. Every now and then I think about looking into it, but it hasn't bothered me enough yet.
FYI, you can use the same temporary fix that I am using right now:
-Grasp volume **** on stereo
-Turn clockwise until squeaking is no longer heard
If you find a permanent fix I'd certainly be interested. Likewise, if I ever dive into it I'll post my results.

I am tired of the squeaking noise. This weekend I am going to open the top half way and try to remove the top head liner, to see what is causing this. I am thinking that their must be some plastic rods that may be rubbing together which is causing this noise.
There is a fix for this problem, I hate say it, but see your dealer. The kit is approx. $100 plus labor. My dealer put duct tape on the "prongs" that align the cab top to the windshield, and said to have the perm fix done at the next service. So far no squeak or rattle with the tape.

NO NO, there is a simple fix.......see my other post.
I hate to revive such an old thread, but I had the exact same symptoms as the OP. Your idea to put duct tape on the retaining hooks on the top worked perfect! No rattles!! Also, I applied several coats of Einsettz Gummu Pflege on the rubber. I don't know which solution was the one that worked, but I don't care.
I'll also ask about that permanent fix at the dealer you referenced. Thanks for a perfect solution.
