First Trans Oil Change - Worry?

This is my first transmission oil change (107,000 Klm). There are metal shavings on my oil drain plug (see below). Everything seems to be working properly - no vibration or noise - should I be worried?

Who is doing your mechanical work? I've been very fortunate to deal with an amazing place in Victoria. Let me know if you're interested. Unfortunately, I don't have enough posts to respond to anything you direct to me directly you..

You should post the name right here for everyone to see so it's there when someone does a search some time in the future...

I'm always interested in hearing about potential places to turn when I need help. Right now I do all the work myself, but sooner or later I'm going to need to do something that exceeds my comfort zone (maybe?!)

Progressive Motorsports on Burnside are the people of choice. Troy is very fair in his pricing, and his head mechanic Jason is brilliant. I never have had an issue with anything they've done on my Porsches or my AC Cobra....

I had the same metal filings on my plug at 60,000Kms I was told it was most likely from the dog teeth on 2nd gear. I now have 2nd gear popout. More details in this link : https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-grinding.html

Having said all that if you dont experience any problems, there's no problems!

After 60k miles, I wouldn't worry about that amount. Like another member said, if you were at 15-20k, it'd be an issue. If you haven't experienced any issues, then I'd forget about it and just know that it's cleaned out now and you're ready to rock another 60k. The plugs are designed to catch those bits just for that reason and it seems that yours if functioning just as it should be. Its normal wear and tear. You're good to go.

Great pics by the way!

That little bit seems normal for the interval your changing the fluid at.

Thanks for the tips - there has been no trouble shifting although changing the oil has made everything MUCH smoother!

Yep...I'm taking mine in for the big 30k mile service in the next few months... can't wait to see the differences I feel. For $1500, I had better feel something .

Made it much smoother? You just encouraged me to change the transmission oil in my BMW.
