Question Power chasing ... expected results?

Im not one to chase numbers on the dyno but curious as to what sort of power i can get / expect.

I have had some k16s rebuilt but not your usual billet upgrade, these have a 48mm compressor wheel, stronger bearings and will flow about 600 cfm and are capable of 1.7 bar ...

Other mods include
  • 5 bar fuel pressure regulator
  • 1 bar actuators
  • Catless Exhaust
  • K&N Panel Filter
  • Irridium Power Spark plugs
  • Uprated Twin Diverter Valves
  • Full Boost hose kit
  • 99 Ron Fuel

And im probably going to ask Tony @ epl nicely to do a remote map for me as im in the UK...

The turbo

So my question to you is what sort of power level at the crank do you think is achievable?

many thanks

Hey mate

Who did the work for you - Send me a PM if you want

How did you get the figure of 1.7 bar?
Was it by calculating the maximum flow the wheel could handle/provide?

I'm guessing you're not going to be running 1.7bar are you?
Our 99Ron fuel is equivelant to US 94Octane, maybe 95 at best

Obviously Tony is the man to speak to, but I'd imagine depending on the timing being run, you might be recommended to stick between 1.2-1.3 bar

When d'ya think you'll have the car ready?

just to clarify - i wont actaully run 1.7 bar LOL thats just what the turbos can handle, i would probably run 1.2/1.3 bar.

Ant_8u : I have a mate who works for Borg Warner who has been building turbos for 20 years, he was new to the k16 for Porsche but done his homework before changing the weak parts inside.

I was told 600 cfm and i worked that out from there...

You sure 99ron is that diff to USA octane ratings ? i searched for ages on wikipedia for some sort of comparison of the two...

Not sure when ill have the funds to do the rest of the work, might even put injectors in at same time too but for now i was curious what this set up would produce, aiming for late this year but with british weather who knows

Sounds pretty cool to me

IIRC our fuel ratings are measured in 'RON' and the US is measured in 'MON'

There is a calculation for switching from one to the other, but I can't remember it off the top of my head

But, it basically works out that RON is 4-5 points lower than MON

Make sure you tell Tony what fuel rating you're using when he does the tuning

(also, from what i've seen the best pump fuel we can get is Shell, BP & Tesco isn't as good as Shells V-Power)

yeah but after seeing this thread : https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...yno-628hp.html

I might hold out for a few more goodies before starting

And yeah v power all the way ! ive used the Shell V-Power on all my cars for the last 6 years mate every last drop even when it used to cost £0.79p a litre
