K16 Billet VS K24/18g turbos.
Lots of boost will do that...

I am also curious at what level of boost the risk of head gasket failure goes up at a much higher rate.
I could see the all season rubber working much better at lower temps. Wouldn't be worth it for me since even in the winter 60° isn't uncommon. Once in a while we will get a week of weather in the high 20's to low 40's.

Love the honesty of this guy. I, also drove the **** out of my car (Ask Atomic Z and S-351 who were normally with me when we were terrorizing the local band of Cobras and such) and enjoyed every single sideways ride in it. My car was K24/18G car, one of the first ones (Protomotive built it and Markski's car was actually at Protomotive in Arkansas-as was Scott's 996TT and I saw Scott's custom cams when I was down there) This was before alpha anything...

purchased a 1989 930 and converted to an ANDIAL car. I had a buddy with
a real RUF yellowbird 930 and the ANDIAL car was faster!!! Btw, the
yellowbird was heralded as the fastest car in the world when it debuted.
I've owned 8 Porsches since '93 and just like the women in my life, I've
loved each and every one of 'em one way or the other. I beat on my cars
not my womenz lol. Porsche cars are race cars......meant to be driven to
the max. GTR's, Vettes, Supras, Lamborghini...........you can have 'em.
Yep, some of these marques have beat Porsche in one test or another,
Periodically. ****, ALi lost a few fights as well, but who made athlete of
the century?
2 Questions:
- Are all K16 Billets created equal??
It seems the (3) main sources for them vary pretty wildly in pricing (AWD Motorsports = $2,600 for the turbos, AMS = $5k with tuning and wastegates, Markski = $1,700 for the turbos alone). Not sure what I am missing if all k16 billets are the same?
- LayinBack...what kind of boost were you running on your K16 Billets to pop the HG?

read 1.41. It was cold out and I had the percentage dialed way down. The
tank was 1/2 full of ms109!
The problem was, I've been beating this car like a rented mule. I recently
divorced a women who makes Glenn Closes character on fatal attraction
look like Mary Tyler Moore. I bought my first Porsche in 5 years and a
new Jaguar xfr. The car has been a real diversion but I broke her in the
process. When I get her back from Markski, she'll be reinforced and faster.
I'm thinkin high 4s 60-130 and 10.3s in the 1/4

Either way with AWD and Marski (assuming the price point you stated w/hardware alone) you are going to need tuning, might as well just go with what is coupled all together but hey, I AM a loyal EPL supporter, it just works and works WELL!
Not all k16 billets are the same, I would suggest speaking with each of the 3 parties you listed and see whos pitch tickles your fancy the most.
cheers.
I see no gain over the cheaper version on pump... Even race gas at 1.4 bar its marginal... we sell a complete turbo, garret WGs dialed inn for the tune, the tune, and injectors for under $4K... the tune has 3 reflashes included...

My car hit 5.87 with 16Gs @ 1.5 bar and it did 6 second flat consistently @ 1.4
That's on the "cheap" version. I haven't heard of the expensive version doing
those numbers. Todd (blackhorseturbo) had the previous record with a 6.33
and 10.7 1/4 with a 197 in the standing mile. He too had the cheaper version.
You should definitely talk to Markski. My best 60-130 before the Polish Porsche
Meister was 7.3
The trick with the k16 hybrids is weight loss and rear wheel drive.

If I may ask why wouldnt you want to go to Alpha 3071s because you are going to have the motor built .I guess you just like that low end hit early and fast from the A28s ?
Those will still spool fast, not as fast as A28s But you will have all that top end pull over the A28s and it will be easier on your chassis / drive train..

be a good thing. I know the 3071s aren't overly "laggy" but a little turbo lag
would cut down on the insane wheelspin of these rwd 996 turbos. My car
has been lightened to the tune of 300+ lb's and I assume the A28s are gonna
have me spinning for days.
I just bought a pair of 28s but it aint over till the fat lady sings. I need to talk
to Mark about this. He mentioned the 3071s in the past and he even said it
was his turbo of choice. Quick spool and hard hitting. Thank you for the
provocative question! You got me thinkin...........
