Over the last month ( when I've had time between getting a house on the market, my middle son's wedding, my mother in laws wedding, family vacation, and life...) I changed my water pump, fresh anti-freeze, serpentine belt, coil packs, plugs, rear rotors, brake pads, and did some more mods to the stock muffler.

So backing out of the garage I notice the right blinker arrow on the speedo lighting up. I went ahead and took the car for a drive to the car wash about 3/4 miles away to spray the dust off. The turn signal arrow lights up brighter the harder I press the brake pedal... Soooo is it a light out, did I plug my tail light up wrong, or what?

I have to take the dam bumper off tommorw regardless. After letting the car idel w/ the air on to see how the temp would be when it's 8 pm and 97 outside. The car was at 180, ideling smooth and sounding great as w/ mods on the muffler. I decided to take it up the road and get the water off it, punced it and wham! Whooooosh! The freakin passengers side upper silicone boost hose came off at the inter cooler.
It was the worse 1 to get on, I pulled and twisted to make sure it was tight, but nooooo, the dam thing wasn't all the way in I guess.

So back to the trn light arrow... What do you guys say it is?

 

First the bumper does not need to be remove to get to the brake light. Also the plug can only go one way

 

I personally can't get to the upper boost hose on the passengers side at the inter cooler w/out taking off the bumper. Mine connects on the outside of the engine compartment behind the bumper.

That's why I'm taking the bumper off? The light Q has nothing to do w/ the boost hose coming off, it was just to see if some1 had the reason so I could just fix it and not search for the reason 1st.

But thanks for letting me know the plug only goes on 1way.

 

Found the light issue. When I plugged it in I somehow didn't see part of the rubber coat that it is in getr between the 2 connectors. So there wasn't a good connection.
Got the boost hose connected.

Here are some pics of the watrer pump.
1. On the tubo I found it easier to just take the motor mount off. The motot mount and exhuast mount is in the way, sure some might work around them but I wasn't going to.
2. The water pump is pretty wore out on the edges of the plastic wheel.
3. Doing this for the 1st wasn't that bad really. Just take your time and pay attention to how things come apart and where you put the parts you takle off. I did this in my spare time over about a 4 week time period. I'd say a person who can wrench should be able to do this by themself in about 6 to 8 hrs of steady work.

Great find on the plug. water pump is a pita. I just bought a new pump myself but my motor is out right now so it will be easy to install for me. How much you pay for the pump? I got some numbers that made me cringe..

 

Thanks, yea it was late and I just didn't see the rubber strap that got between the connections.
Since I was going to change the belt, fluid, and pump I just got it all at Suncoast. When ordering it all they had the best price or right at the best. Plus I was getting eom parts and on that part of the engine that's what I wanted. It was a semi PITA but for just under 400$ for all the parts and my labor it was worth the savings on having a mechanic do it.

I also bought a air lift fluid tool, it was 125$ or so? Took maybe 10 min to put the new fluid in the car. It worked Awesome!

W/ a 1 being my wife fixing it & a 10 being a cert pro Porsche mechanic & full shop, I'd put all that I did on this maintenance expo a 6.7 ( it's the olympic scoring system tonight )
It's all pretty straight forward stuff and you don't need tools that... well I don't have to have a reason to buy more tools, you can only use on 1 thing.

If a person wants to work on their car but hasn't ever or is just scared then start off small. Changing the lights, then taking off the bumper, and so on. I was taking my bike apart at 8 to 10 yrs old and have just kept taking everything apart since then. My next major mechanical expedition will be pulling the front axels out and having them rebuilt the putting them back in.

1 thing I've found I wish I had was a 120 gal or bigger air compressor tank. Mines a 60 gal and it just doesn't have the volume at times to max out my 1/2 air gun.
