Bird strike at 140....
Bird strike at 140....
So I was at the track last week and had a bird strike at the end of the front straight right around 140mph. I tagged the poor fellow pretty much dead center on the top of the bumper just ahead of the hood. I get bird strikes quite often in airplanes but never have in a car before. Anyone else had this happen?

Wow. Any paint damage under the leftovers? I had a bug of some type get me through my leathers on my liter bike while I was stretching her legs. I had a welt that was black and blue.
No damage. The bumper is made of PU just like the Porsche bumper and has a lot of give. The whole front end of the car has clear bra on it so the guts came right off and a little polish had it looking like new again.
Ever seen the vid of the biker on the fwy that hits a pigeon? Right on his visor; good thing he was wearing a full face helmet.
Very very lucky, in my younger day my Cosworth had a bird strike direct to the bonet ( hood
) and it destroyed it. Folded the front under the slam panel. If it had hit the screen I'd have been toast.
2nd strike was on a National rally championship event when a seagull swooped down and thought it could give the front of the car a "Glasgow Kiss" , it destroyed the rad and was minced at the same time. Combined speed could have been 140. 110 for the rally car and bird air speed 20/30 possibly.
Rule of thumb.....Never give an RS Cosworth a "Glasgow Kiss"

Below.
Giving a Mirror a "Glasgow Kiss " and some one just about to get one.

Took a bat to the sternum on my bike in my early 20's. Was purple for 2 weeks but did not break anything.
