Updated Headlights
I'm a little surprised to see these responses about the silver car. It looked more up to date and menacing in person.
It reminds me of the white Lambo in the banner on this page.

The mod has separated one big not so desirable headlight into two separate individual lights where the focus now is on the big headlight rather than one huge chrome thingy.
Great eye Steve

Now when are we dropping the motor so that I can bring my 964 Turbo to fix the annoying little leaks

I think this is the way the car should of come. For example the Porsche CGT comes that way:

Thinking about getting mine done, what do you guys think about going flat black on the inside, and gloss black only on the headlight washer cover on the exterior of the headlight ?
Or just flat black all the way around ?
Feedback appreciated.

You wont be able to get rid of the glare with flat black, the glare comes off the headlight lenses.
The only thing I might have done differently is painting the headlight washer caps a flat black as they are more prominant now.

Hmmm ...
I'm leaning towards flat black all the way around, I think I'll be able to accomplish a similar result.
Appreciate the feedback.

OK so most of us agree we like the look, but in 6 pages we still have no idea who does the work or how much they charge. Why do we walk on eggshells wrt to these details? Is it a sooper dooper secret? Just tell everyone who and how much and how long it took; then we can all decide what the next step should be for each of us.

I thought it was against the rule to share pricing on this forum. Especially when it's not an approved vendor.
I have given this information to anyone who sent me a PM, which I believe I mentioned in an earlier post.

My guess is this thread would definitely fall under that category.
So....wanna PM me the details?

Got my lights back today, came out ok, a few minor imperfections, basically the same look as Steve's, except I did the exterior nozzle caps in flat black, the inside of the light is gloss black. They didn't do the best job painting the caps, a couple of nicks in the paint right out of the box.
I'm happy with them, and like the look on my black car. I'm not sure how hard it is to disassemble, paint and reassemble, but I'm picky as hell, my car is not a pristine garage queen, if it were, I would give it some thought, taking into consideration the 996TT will likely never be a sought after collector car, so my thought is to just have fun with the car, take care of it as best I can, then move on one day. Great car at current prices, that is sure.

Please PM me the info (Contact & $$) for the headlamp mods - I own a '01 996TT in Orient Red I'm considering the modification for.
Thanks,

I wanted to update this thread, I elected to have the same company do my lights as well, after receiving them back I noticed a small scratch that was NOT on the outside of the lens, and bit of a weird haze on the headlight. I let them know immediately that I was concerned, but wanted to wait until after the holidays / and my pending vacation before sending it back. Upon returning from vacation I contacted them again, explaining to them the haze had gotten worse. They agreed that I should send the headlight back to them for warranty work.
They received the headlight in Late January, and I heard nothing from them for about 3+ weeks, then sent an email last week re: status, they claimed they were busy, and my headlight was next for warranty work. Later in the week I emailed them inquiring again about the status, and they told me that scratch was on the lens, and they couldn't remove the haze. I immediately called them, and spoke with them, they confirmed there was a scratch on the inside of the housing and that haze was a reaction to the paint, possibly because it was still wet when reassembled. Said she would talk with the manager and get back to me.
I followed up again today via email, and this was their response.
I am very sorry to inform you that after one of the technicians and my manager looked at the light further they informed me that the haze that you see on the lens is a chemical reaction and not something that we can cover under warranty.
Again, I apologize for the inconvenience and if I can do anything to assist you further in the future please let me know.
Thank you and have a great day!
Not sure where this is headed now, obviously not in a good direction. Car has been down for a month now. The headlight is still in their possession, I have the drivers headlight which seems to be fine, and no passenger headlight.
Any advice outside of the obvious, "your F'ed", is appreciated.
