Accelerates on its own??!! Throttle stuck! 2001 tt

Hey guys , anyone ever had a problem with a stuck throttle . I have a 2001 tt, and last night I noticed it started to accelerate on its own, when I went into neutral, rpms started climbing ?? Any advice on where to start? After I shutoff and started back up , was fine, but did it again 2 min later... Thanks in advance for any input ...

I noticed it first when I was driving... Almost like cruise control kicked on... And now that I think of it... Cruise control light did come on both times ... And I know I didnt touch it.. Strangest thing... Idles normal, and was doing it while I was driving , and coming to a stop .... Basically felt like throttle was sticking

I was downshifting once while slowing down a fairly steep down grade and it seemed like the throttle stuck and was racing near 4K rpm for a second. It felt just like a floor mat under the accelerator but it can't happen here. I thought maybe it was my size 11.5 big Vibram soled hiking boots tha make driving always a challenge, but my right foot was clearly away from and above the gas pedal. It's only happened once in combined 9 years of driving my 996s.

check your pedal and t/b with a durametric. make sure you see 0 and 100 and they cross at 50. Vacuum leak would not just go away unless it is small enough that the A/C pump adds the load to idle fine. To check that start the car make sure your a/c is off, if the car idles up vacuum leak.

You can spray some brake cleaner in the suspect locations.. If the rpm changes .... Vacuum leak.

getting worse! and more frequent

was doing it even worse today! When i tap the throttle it sticks at the highest rpm point, and sometimes slowly climbs...at neutral idle up in the range of 4k even...checked the pedal actuator and seems to be fine there, Also noticed erratic throttle response tonight, and one point even felt like a huge lack of power as though maybe one turbo was only operating...shut it off, cranked it up, full power again... went over railroad tracks, and throttle started feeling inconsistent..and felt weak again... I did just do the clutch on this one, and also the secondary air pump/lines...so you guys thinking maybe vacuum leak?? never knew a vacuum leak could cause such high rpms... doesnt seem right, feels more of like a an old school jeep with a cable throttle that gets stuck... Really appreciate the input so far though guys, thanks a bunch, and yes "officer, Im telling you...the car just took off on its own!" ha... any other input on how the throttle works in this one...?

If you have no vacuum leak then it's your TB. I was just having the same issue, after I replaced the TB the problem went away.

its a drive by wire no cable. take it back to who ever did the secondary air pump lines. That work could cause this. I said "could"...
