Coolant Hose Failures in the news!

I realize this is only detroit news, but I wonder if this will get any traction with Porsche NA for recalls. Apologies if it's a repost.
"US Safety Regulators" seems kind of generic

Perfect opportunity for everyone who has had a leak to come forward and report it to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If they get enough documentation of the widespread failures it might force Porsche to correct the problem.

Date Investigation Opened : April 26, 2013Date Investigation Closed : Open Summary:
ODI has received 10 reports alleging incidents of sudden coolant loss which occurred while driving on public roadways in model year (MY) 2001 through 2007 Porsche 911 vehicles equipped with GT1 engines. Complainants allege that the failures occur at a coolant hose fitting, resulting in a rapid loss of engine coolant thereby disabling the vehicle. One complaint alleges that the coolant caused a loss of rear tire traction, resulting in a loss of control, spin and road departure (10492870). A Preliminary Evaluation has been opened to assess the scope, frequency and safety-related consequence of the alleged defect. The VOQs associated with the opening of this investigation are: 10509008, 10508991, 10508950, 10508886, 10508852, 10508439, 10508415, 10499809, 10492870, and 10450233.

+1. If enough owners submit their claim that had failures, hopefully would recoupe all or most of the cost of the repair.

But you have to have suffered a failure to fill out the form. Many owners paid to take care of the problem before it presented itself. Personally I havn't welded my coolant lines as I don't track the car or drive hard, but I don't want to become a statistic either.

Doesn't PCA restrict racing of our cars to those that have had the lines pinned or welded? PCNA will fight this tooth and nail, it's an expensive one for them if they lose.
My guess is NHTSA won't be too sympathetic to failures that occurred on a track. If it were me, I might leave that bit of information out of the story.
