Coolant Hose Failures in the news!

http://www.detroitnews.com/article/2...-coolant-leaks

I realize this is only detroit news, but I wonder if this will get any traction with Porsche NA for recalls. Apologies if it's a repost.

"US Safety Regulators" seems kind of generic

Perfect opportunity for everyone who has had a leak to come forward and report it to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If they get enough documentation of the widespread failures it might force Porsche to correct the problem.

+1. If enough owners submit their claim that had failures, hopefully would recoupe all or most of the cost of the repair.

But you have to have suffered a failure to fill out the form. Many owners paid to take care of the problem before it presented itself. Personally I havn't welded my coolant lines as I don't track the car or drive hard, but I don't want to become a statistic either.

There is a link in the announcements section up top to the NHTSA site. PLEASE file a report if you have had a coolant pipe issue!

Doesn't PCA restrict racing of our cars to those that have had the lines pinned or welded? PCNA will fight this tooth and nail, it's an expensive one for them if they lose.

My guess is NHTSA won't be too sympathetic to failures that occurred on a track. If it were me, I might leave that bit of information out of the story.

Well said! If your Porsche has had 'any' type of coolant pipe leak, now is the time to speak up. NHTS will hold Porsche accountable for this subpar critical engine part which can cause an accident. Example would be the floor mats that Toyota had a few years ago where lives were lost!

Thank you.

Certainly not all PCA regions. It's likely those regions where someone had a problem at one of their events.

I found this fitting leaking on my car a couple weeks ago! Is this something that should be reported? This kind of reminds me of what happened to BMW with the E46 M3 subframe problems! Hope we can get a recall!
