...randy, you'd love it up here. right next to mqueens favorite watering hole is a corral full of donkeys/horses, you name it no midgets that i've seen, but there is a rodeo clown,.. kinda down on his luck. but a decent clown, nonetheless... if ya ever get out here, i mean..
You can set up a really decent track car for 10-15k. Most of that will be

suspension. Your turbos are perfect for your style of driving.

This build includes a built 3.8 motor with custom exhaust & intake plumbing

Tial alpha 3073 turbos, ruf short shift/ linkage, nardi steering wheel,

ProEfi engine management, e85 conversion, coil overs, rebuilt trans w/

997 gt2 1-3 gears and steel synchros on 1-4 & CMS side billet plate.

70mm Y pipe w/ 50mm tial BOVs, IPD 74mm tb / plenum, 3.5 ic's and

a couple dozen more supporting features. Misha gt2 wing, cf side inlets &

mirrors, complet custom interior with lightweight carpet / paper board

molding, recaro pole positions etc.. etc...etc...

I would guess 75k in mods and custom work since Oct '12

My advice is don't get started.

As far as the various setups? I would invite the tuners to answer that

question. Different turbo setups can vary wildly. i spent 20k on a k16

setup but it was in all likelihood, the fastest one in the world. You can

do a k16 setup for 8k and still out accelerate a gt2rs and an Enzo. You can

do a big turbo setup for 25-30k but then again, you can spend twice that

much or even a little less than that.

Boy, that's like the question; How many ladders does it take to get to the moon?

Only one if it's long enough.

or, better yet; How many midget rodeo clowns does it take to satisfy a man

who has a hankering for the absurd and bizarre?

I'll get back with you on that one.

They sure look straight cut! When you line the 996 stuff up against the

997 gt2 stuff, it's a marked difference.

As far as the noise.....I'll let you know Wednesady

I got my coilovers for 2000. H&Rs. Hey, H&Rs are oem on gt3s!

The fellows out at Barber Motorsport are anxious to see what what she'll do. Fred wrenches on the Porsche

experience cars at Barbers and it looks like we're gonna get the track all by our lonesome.

The gopro will be in operation

Hey bro! Don't forget to weld your coolant lines while you're in there.

I'm so happy your build is coming along. Your excitement is shining through and very contagious! Can't wait to see and here this thing on the vids, and God willing some day in person!

lol about the coolant lines

Yep, when he fired it up and those supertrapps started gurgling.....

We're heading for the Dyno on Tuesday and we'll finish up the tuning.

From there I'll head to the scales and I'm predicting 3015 lbs with

a 1/2 tank.

In 3 weeks I'm getting a black matte wrap, carbon hood and voltphreaks

battery. That'll put me under 3000 lbs! Next project will be a 997 gt2.

Same 1-3 gears here, no noise and nothing different related to noise or so, just the 2nd pop up showed to my door with the upgrade, gbox detent didnt fix it, i didnt have that with 996 gears... i really like 1st gear now ... 2nd a bit longer too... i might change the 2nd syncro again to loose the 2nd gear pop-up problem

that's probably because it was replaced to "original" factory specs. they now shim it differently than oem factory spec. if you do go inside again..? make sure you replace 1-2 and the synchros same time and look for porsche updated info on the rebuild.. one partially rounded gear is all it takes.
